Would Lennox Lewis become the greatest of all time if he came back and beat Wladimir?

It would indeed be a feather in Lennox's cap if he did so. It would n't be so big an achievement to rate him as the all time number one though.

I think it would go a long way for people willing to entertain the idea. But Lewis won't come back, and even so, he'd never beat Wladimir now.

No . McCall and Rahman will always b remembered .
Lewis got a 'W' in d McCall rematch because McCall was still hospitalized in a rehab institution when he signed 2 fight Lewis , didn't get d time he needed 2 get well , and fact is he wasn't well in d ring against Lewis . Regardless of whose fault it is , it wasn't like Lewis beat McCall when McCall was even close 2 being well . When McCall was anywhere near well he TKOd Lewis in 2 and would have caused yet even more harm if d fight was allowed 2 continue . Lewis really fell on d ref , even Lewis himself never claimed otherwise . :deal
Lewis is 1(1):1(1) against Rahman , not really proving superiority over d smaller albeit younger man .
Same with Lewis not fighting Tyson and Holyfield until they were shot .
Even d Tua Lewis outpointed was slightly past his prime .
And Lewis fouled heavily vs Michael Grant and only got a paper 'W' over Vitali due 2 cuts .

No, Max Schmeling coming back would be greater. And about as likely.

Of course he wouldn't! It would certainly put him in the top 3 HW's of all time though IMO along with Ali and Joe Loius. Marciano would be a close 4th. At the moment I have Lewis as the 5th best of all time with number 4 being Jack Johnson

I suppose it depends on how you rate wlad.

For me, who has wlad a top 15 hw himself, this win would definitely make him the hw goat.

I find the idea hilarious to entertain.

Lewis making a comeback, that is.

I rate Lewis very high now, and i think him beating Wlad would mean his resume is just plain better than any other.

The chances of his coming back are remote. The chances of him wining even more so. So if he did come back and win I'd be ****ing flabbergasted and would have to seriously consider him being no 1 at heavy. No 3 at least.

But its never gonna pan out like that.

For Lewis to comeback & do this 4 years ago, it would've been somewhat possible, with an insanely motivated degree of dedication in training & some quality tune-ups... now it's pretty much impossible. I mean just look at the asking price. In '08 Lewis said in Boxing Monthly he'd rematch Vitali for $50mill (a fair deal), whereas now he'd fight either Klitschko, but asked for a tongue-in-cheek $100mill. Anyway to answer the thread question, currently I have Lennox at #2 & Wlad at #10 for ATG Heavyweights... so yes, coming back after 9 years of retirement, at age 47 (probably 48 by the time he faced Wlad) & defeating the man who's been the best in the division for the last 7 years... indeed that would warrant Lewis being the new Heavyweight GOAT in my books.

"Peak H2H" is 33% of my Greatness Criteria, along with "Resume" & "Special Achievement".

My "Peak H2H" list for Heavyweights as seen a significant shake-up recently, & now Lewis is #1 there.

    I would've replied quicker, but i had ferret-problems.

I have Lewis at number three, behind Ali, Louis and ahead of Holmes.

H2H I have him at number one.

If he beats Wlad, then it pushes him up to number one in my book, but I can't see it.
