Would Lewis have given Vitali a rematch if he lost the first one?

Okay, another thread on the most controversial heavyweight fight of the century so far.

I tend to agree with the people who say Lewis didn't give Vitali the rematch because of the amount of punishment he took. Would he have given it if he lost that night?

I personally feel he would have. He has avenged every defeat in his career. The lion would have roared back into shape and pummeled Vitali in the rematch to protect his legacy.

Yes his pride would not have allowed him to retire if he had been beaten by Vitali. He rematched Rahman immediately, even took him to court to enforce the rematch, don't see why Lewis would have felt any different, he was always a prideful man.

While the win was far from conclusive, a win was a win for Lewis, he simply didn't have the hunger anymore, he just wanted easy big money fights against Tyson and Bowe at that point.

Lennox Lewis KO 4 Hasim Rahman
Lennox Lewis KO 8 Mike Tyson
Lennox Lewis TKO 6 Vitali Klitschko

    Lennox Lewis HALL OF FAME

    The end.......................
I actually have respect for Vitali, but it is what it is, 30 years from
now people will remember him as coming close but coming up just
short against a great HOF'r at the end of his career...

It's really a black mark on his career.
