Would Lewis have given Vitali a rematch if he lost the first one?

Jesus, look guy I could show you number, will take me literally few minutes. If you know both fighter you would know a ballpark statistics. No need to use calculator to know that Lewis's way behind Vitali.

As an exercise, why don't you run the numbers and see for yourself. Anyway, bye! :hi:

yeah...i'm not going to do that. cos i don't care how many rds a fighter has won or lost. it is nothing more than a footnote.

you however were going on about this statistic...basing your whole argument on it...calling it a "real (antonym of imaginary) statistic"...& it's not.

you claim to base your opinion on subjectively analysing empirical evidence...but when challenged to show your evidence you cannot produce it.

    what a ******.

lennox lewis > vitali klitschko. :deal

Grouche has quickly become the most idiotic Klitschko fan on these boards, which is an achievement in itself considering the competition. H2H, Vitali can NEVER be put ahead of LL because past-prime Lewis demolished his prime face, and legacy-wise, Vitali has been 2nd in the division for a long time with absolute zero possibility of him ever facing the number one, regardless of how many defences he makes. Lewis' resume, dominance in a stronger era and the fact that he beat everyone he ever faced puts him miles ahead of both brothers put together. He also beat a ton of HoFs and ATGs along the way and avenged both his losses in brutal fashion. The fact that the biggest fights this year for both brothers are against former Cruiserweights should give an indication of how weak they are both seen to be and what a **** state HW boxing is in. Adamek, Haye etc would never have dreamed of stepping up if Lewis was still around.

A perfectly respectable choice after a long career. It was a hellish fight and Lennox was old. It isn't like Vitali has any argument for being the greater fighter, he only has an argument for possibly winning a hypothetical rematch after being stopped on cuts in a fight he was winning on points--which is kind of long winded when placed next to LennoxTKOVitali.

Vitaly ran Lewis out of boxing. Lewis was at his peak when he demolished Tyson like nine months earlier. Now all of a sudden we are to beLieve Lewis was suddenly old. Vitaly is almost three full years older now than when he ran Lewis out of the sport and he is still dominating.

Lewis was always more comfortable doing his fighting in a court room. He was constantly fileing nusiance lawsuits.Whenever the pseudo intellectual, big baby did not get his way he would go crying to a majestrate. Lewis took Tyson to court inorder to force a rematch that Lewis would have obviously won easily but when it is his turn to give a rematch he runs off into retirement.

Vitaly is a better boxer than Lewis and quite frankly puts him to shame as a human being!

I don't know how to adress you mumbling structurally, because there is little sense in your blabbering. Let me just give you a few points, which should straighten your weak mind. If, of course, you will make an effort to improve.

H2H, Vitali beat and humiliated Lenox to the point that he became so bitter that he can't hide the sour grapes anytime he talks about Vitali :hey

Vitali is so far ahead of Lenox on any subjective metric it's not even funny, more like a pro vs. amateur.

Ummmm, the era of Mercer, old Holyfield, old Tyson, Rahman, Tua, McCall is you reference? :rofl

    Well, anyway, forget about it....

Lewis was staggered, was out of it when he had his promoter to signal his doctor to signal his referee to stop the fight without even looking at the cut, if Vitali had had one more round Lewis would have been knocked out! Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Lewis refused to fight a rematch even for a huge payday, the largest payday of his entire career! Shows that Lewis knew he lost and would get knocked out.

"I got this guy" Lennox Lewis in his corner, right before the doctor stopped it.

"if ur a champ & a challenger beats u. Generally the should prove it wasnt a fluke in a rematch, but the challenger is not OWED a rematch" - Lennox Lewis on twitter a few days ago. He also said it was scheduled to be his last fight anyway.........Lewis retired Lewis because boxing training is damn hard work and he ticked every box he wanted to.

Its amazed how much this is still discussed.

Anyway, Happy 40th Viitali, same date as mine.

""""Vitaly ran Lewis out of boxing. Lewis was at his peak when he demolished Tyson like nine months earlier.""""

That's a great line. The first time I've seen that mentioned.

Lewis was in shape for Donut Johnson...not Vitilie's fault.

It was a very good fight. Yes all the fans wanted to see the second fight.
Had it gone to a SD....would you still say there was no need for a rematch?

One punch can change things, like the grazing punch that tore Vitilie's eye.
I had it because I don't have a must...2-2-2, but if it was a must it was 4-2 for Vitilie.
Lewis was more tired than Vitili....both were tired.
Due to a cut, Lewis won.

Lewis promiced a rematch in the ring.
He never gave the rematch. He held on to the tirle

At any fight that Vitilie had after that, he called out Lewis.
Lewis retired rather than face Vitilie again. Vitilie ran Lewis out of boxing.

What ever you can say about Tyson, Tyson took his beating like a man.

Lewis initially was in favour of a rematch:
"I want the rematch, I enjoyed that fight. It was just a fight. We went at it. You have to play dollars and cents but I'm opting more for the rematch."

Negotiations for the rematch followed but Lewis changed his mind

Instead, Klitschko fought and defeated Kirk Johnson on December 6 in WBC Eliminator, setting up a mandatory rematch with Lewis. Lewis announced his retirement shortly thereafter and vacated the title. Lewis commented later:
"So, when it came time for me to see if I should fight Klitschko again, I thought - at my worst, at my worst! I beat Klitschko and look what I did to his face! I was at my worst - just think [what would’ve happened] if I’d trained just a little bit harder. I didn’t need to fight him again."

What for Bull ****....He won by a cut TKO, not a beat him into a standing hulk TKO. He was behind two rounds...according to the judges.....as I said I had it even. 2-2-2.

So after basically dominating for 10 years and retiring on a win, you want to perform some mental gymnastics to validate some wildly inaccurate convictions.

There is a clear distinction to be made between refusing a rematch and retiring. Had Lewis took other fights, like the big money Tyson rematch he reportedly wanted, then yeah, you may say he ducked the harder fight - but he didnt. He decided to chill in Jamaica and no longer get up at 5am. I cant blame him.

Vitali was nearly in tears after the fight. Lewis was at his worst and Vitali even said as much.......it annoys Vitali a lot that he never got his rematch but I doubt he believes he "ran him out of boxing".

Also 9 months is a long time for a peak athlete, peak level fitness is something lost much much quicker than that. Many sports have a pre-season, for this reason. Lewis was awesome but undeniably complacent at times. That to my mind was his weakness.
