in kliturd land, sure, prime Wlad getting easily killed in seconds by retiree Sanders is better than Lewis beating MCall, well done there kliturd.

Amazing!!! NOBODY else could have beaten the NUTS version of McCall that they dragged out of rehab and who actually started bawling in the fight because his head was so messed up. A true, amazing vicory for the ages!!!!!

Sanders is my man, but you may want to supply a quote for that.

Regarding Sanders, Wlad tried. There were articles covering it heavily. The contract was pretty poorly constructed and allowed Sanders a voluntary defense before rematching Wlad. Sanders took several months, shopping for high profile opponents that wanted no part of him, namely unification fights with Roy Jones Jr and Lennox Lewis. Wlad took the opportunity to get some tune up fights.

The WBO tried to force Sanders to fight Brewster in a mandatory, so he dropped the title and pursued Vitali for the WBC and RING belt. Without the title, Wlad could not force Sanders into the ring. Sanders went on record saying if he beats Vitali he would rematch Wlad. Wlad was mandated to fight Brewster for the vacated title. It was just a mess.

Regarding Fury, we know Wlad tried. That's recent news.

To be fair, Wlad also granted rematches to his most contested wins. Lennox got the rematches he needed without giving them himself.

I don't blame him for retiring rather than face Vitali, but it still remains that Vitali and Mercer never got a rematch.

Fat or not, the Sanders that showed up against Vitali meant business for a few rounds. Brewster would be a hard guy to blow out though. I think Brewster gets dropped a few times and badly messed up but somehow pulls it off.

That's my thinking as well. Lamon for all his shortcomings was durable and hard to put away while Sanders never really had that great of stamina. That and he was 37-38 years old by that point. I see it being a great fight for about 6-7 rounds but Corrie eventually gasses.

Brewster could not only take a beating but often comeback with enough to muster a win or at least put the fight in jeopardy.

Too bad Brewster didn't get more high profile fights. I think Rahman is a winnable fight for him.

How can I compete with that? How about Wlad is 1-0 vs Povetkin, and 2-0 vs Byrd, whom Lewis avoided and gave up a belt to?

And Wlad 1-0 vs Rhaman. Lewis 1-1 vs Rhaman.

Did you read the contract?? How do you know this? Provide evidence.

Wlad did not try. Sanders even said he did not try. He flat out ducked that rematch.. Sanders was trying to cash out against Roy Jones and he was only in a position to do that because Wlad did not trigger his rematch clause.

Sanders hurt his leg and could not train for the Rahman fight so that is not a good benchmark.

A better one is he went 8-9 rounds with VItlai, who successfully landed some hard body shots to slow Sanders down. Sanders gassed, but he took a beating with cuts and a broken nose.

Brewster post the re-match beating by Wlad was never quite the same.

I think Brewster could have potentially beaten a lot of good heavyweights. But his style was his own nemesis. The man took way too much punishment for his own good.

Brewster was never the same after the Lioavich beating where he revived a detached retina and was advised to retire. After a year out Wlad then thought he'd offer the shell of Brewster a rematch :drooling:
