All true points. the only thing I'll ad is that Brewsters rematch with Wlad wasn't until 2007. The WBO's demand for Sanders to fight Brewster was sometime around 2003-2004 so at that point I think it would have been up in the air. If Sanders had shown up in shape he might have pulled it off. But Lamon had both Power and durability. It would have been a tough and entertaining match.

More or less as I remember it. Sanders wanted to cash out, and Brewster wasn't a big money fight. In fact iirc Brewster wasn't supposed to be anywhere near the title, it was Tua that got shafted in a Don King imbroglio somehow.

He wasn't like guys like Tua or McCall, they took shots but protected themselves and would go into sparring partner mode. Brewster would just walk into shots, get dropped, knocked out on his feet, busted up. It was sick.

No, Dino but I read about 20 articles at the time that followed the saga. Sanders had a voluntary defense and Wlad had an interim bout, and the rematch was supposed to happen that December. Sanders wanted Roy Jones or Lewis. Problem was WBO ordered Sanders to face Tua, than changed it to Brewster, and their was a bunch of legal garbage that held everything up.

It is understood that Sanders was to make a voluntary defence of his newly won title before facing Klitschko in a return. However the WBO ordered Sanders to fight a mandatory, within 90 days against the next available contender, which was Brewster. Universum then went ahead and won the purse bids.

And meanwhile Sanders was shooing off the fruit flies as he desperately tried to stave off his sell by date.

Why do governing bodies always insist on screwing up what could have been great matches?

I'd have given Sanders a reasonable chance of repeating his win over Wlad, whereas instead I had to watch him get demolished by his less frolicsome and dour big brother.

It's a business. Wlad went on record several times, stating he wanted the rematch immediately but Universum and the WBA wanted him to fight an interim bout and even take time off. Meanwhile they were trying to strong arm Sanders into a match with King's Brewster.

Sanders I believe didn't want the Wlad rematch or Brewster. Not that he was scared. He lucked into the Wlad fight when 10 fighters turned it down, and miraculously he won against the man largely scene as the #1 behind Lewis. He hit the big time finally and wanted a cash out. He eventually got it against Vitali. Dino even humorously admits this, but in his warped mind he would argue Sanders wanted a cash out and Wlad somehow ducked him too.

    As did i.

You claimed the contract was 'poorly constructed' which would suggest you read the contract yourself. You claimed it allowed Sanders a voluntary - no evidence of this put forward.

How was the rematch meant to happen in December ?? Show me a link that states they made an agreement to fight in December?

The only truth you told was that Wlad pursued other fights against bums. Taking an interim bout = ducking the immediate rematch.
    This means :
    1. Prime Wlad at 40 fights wasn't good enough to beat a shot perennial contender from the previous era.
    2. Prime Wlad wasn't good enough to take an immediate rematch with shot perennial contender from the previous era.

Are you trying to peddle a theory that Sanders turned down the rematch? Despite the fact he fought him once already and knocked him out easily in two rounds. And despite the fact he had no problems fighting his bigger , better older brother?? Is this what you're telling me?

Sanders would have rematched Wlad no problem. There's a lot of money to be made there. But it's true that he didn't want Brewster and I believe that you are right that he wanted a soft(er) interim fight against either RJJ or Lewis. Lewis would not exactly have been soft but again, big money to be made. Corrie was especially excited when RJJ's manager signed for the fight but unfortunately Jones himself had second thoughts.

I believe that Wlad was right not to rush into a rematch right away.

Getting flattened like that by a guy that poses some stylistic problems for you requires a step back and a bit of time to reset the mind and digest the result and to come up with a new strategy. I think that if he'd had an immediate rematch the result would likely have been the same.

wlad never fought anyone as good as either of them.wlads best ever opponent, shot retired sanders who killed easily prime wlad in seconds, was unable to get to the level mcall and rahman did.

Lewis would still be highly favored over Wlads opponents so im not sure what you are saying? To repeat wlads resume he would have had to start in 1996 and he would have steward presumably.Steward passed a few years ago 3 i think? that makes it possible. its more probable he does bc he then doesnt fight Vitali and stays in the game.If Vitali wasnt around he would have got more wins. going under Wlads resume i cant see him losing or assuming he loses bc of some tougher guys he struggled with. Im not sure Wlad fought bigger and more punchers than lewis ,i highly doubt that,so the level of danger is less.

    LOL

Rahman couldn't even get by Oleg Maskaev...not once but TWICE. The same Maskaev who was pole axed by the great Lance Whittaker and numerous other bums.

Keep clinging to Wlad v Sanders **** stain, sad little life you lead.
