    Hi guys !

I've always been a big fan of boxing, I watch boxing almost every days, fights, replays, anything.

But I would like to get into boxing, and what's better than starting as an amateur boxer ? I'm currently 19 years old, frrom 6-16 I did karate, went to black belt and did a couple tourney as an amateur, former regional champion.

So I have some basics down, I can jab, move around and I have good uppercuts and hooks from both hands, my straight right is **** though ( orthodox, but I can do southpaw, but no power on straights, and jab is not as good ).

Ok, so I can attend a gym for 2 months, due to school starting and thus not having money to invest at the moment ( I don't like not having money that's why, and school cost a lot ), so what should I do in the mean time.

I though about loosing some weight, as I've added muscles, but some fat as well ( slacked for a while ), and 5'9 foot tall and weight 155lbs ( 70kg ? ), I have some fat on the corners, so I guess I could lose about 5-10 without worries ( ate too much fastfood :( ). At the moment, I do basic training which might not be good, so correct me if I'm wrong ! What I do is 20 minutes of jogging / running each 2 days ( 1 days break between each training ), with series ( 3 ) of set ups ( 90 ), push ups ( 30 ), squats ( 30 ) etc and some light weight lifting ( 10-20 lbs usually ).

I want to be in decent shape when I go to the gym, I used to go there a year ago, and sparred with some decent opposition such as canadian amateur champion ( forgot the weight class though ) and gave him a decent run ( I was and still am an amateur at boxing, I'm used to kicking, kneeing etc )

What can I work on in the meantime ?

    Thank you !

Get to a boxing gym and get some proper coaching and sparring. Otherwise you won't progress. If you want it enough you will find a way. And, don't forget the wall sits.

I already do a lot of cycling and I'm standing up for about 6 hours a day at my job, I can already do age of wall sitting ( and it still hurt, I hate it ! ).

As far as going to a boxing gym, I said in the OP that I couldn't, and since I already have experience in fighting sport ( as well as some boxing, maybe about 1 year worth or going to the gym 3 times a week back when I was 15, my karate coach told me to to it ), I think if you guys could point me to some exercises I could do it !

Don't tell me to do shadow boxing though, I hate it and it's boring. I'd rather do wallsit than that !

    And is 155lb ( 70kg ) too much for 5'9 foot tall ?

The more knowledgeable posters will come on board soon (probably on vacation) but in the meantime I'd just continue to grease the groove on your no doubt already honed wall sits. You can't do too many of 'em if success in the squared circle is what you're after.

Maybe a bit of shadow boxing too..
