It would be a good win and his best win by far in my opinion. Though I always thought Ortiz was overrated after the Jennings win, it easy for a big strong guy like Ortiz to look good against a guy with no power standing right in front of you like Jennings. Later performances showed weaknesses to movement and an inability to move through the gears when needed to.

But if Wilder wins convincingly you have to give him credit, Ortiz may not be as good as many suspect but he's still a top heavyweight and a dangerous one too. But one good win doesn't mean he can go back to fighting no hopers in his next fight, he needs continue fighting at this level and aim for the winner of Joshua/Parker.

It all depends if the WBC will allow Ortiz to take his blood pressure medicine, Lipitor, use his walker and if the nursing home will allow Ortiz to leave the nursing home................or not.............but at only 50 years old, Ortiz will still be a threat!

So to sum it up its considered a good win because Wilder has never fought a guy who actually has names on his record.....

How does wilder have fans? (albeit probably the least supported heavyweight champ in history).

Depends if Ortiz takes a dive or not. I think something is being concocted.

There's Wilder threads every day on the front page. Sometimes 4 or 5 at the same time.

Liked or not , people can't stop talking about him.

Threads about a world heavyweight boxing champion on a boxing forum shocker.....

    The point still stands.

He must be the least supported US world heavyweight champ in history.

Are you completely missing the word 'supported' on purpose?

Huge difference between being 'talked about' and being 'supported'.

He's a US Heavy.....he should be able to sell out the same as any other Heavy on the planet.

Joshua, Whyte, Haye, Bellew etc etc all do bigger numbers in their own country.

Maybe it just demonstates how poor the support is for Boxing in the US then?

I used to think that Ortiz actually did have several good wins on his resume, in Thompson, Scott, and Jennings. I was a fan of each of those boxers, especially Jennings but let's honest about his resume.

Thompson had lost 5 out of his last 7 matches, Scott was 3-3-1 in his last 7 matches including Ortiz, and Jennings got battered by Klitschko and basically showed that his head was not even remotely in the ring with Ortiz and then disappeared from the ring for almost 2 years following the match.

It's a shame that Ortiz hasn't been able to fully display his once impressive skill level on higher level competition and maximize his potential. He has looked quite old and slow in recent matches unless he's been placed against complete cans. Also, his sitting back and waiting to counter punch style is entirely wrong for Wilder. All that Wilder has to do is use movement and a jab to win this match.

Got 'battered' by Klitschko?? lol , go watch the fight. . Jennings won at least 4 rounds and had WK holding on for dear life which ended up costing him a point deduction.

King Kong was the guy who done the bettering without needeg to hold on or run away.

I think that's an overly harsh summation of Ortiz's opponents. Thompson might have been on a bit of a losing streak before Ortiz, but he was still an experienced and canny operator, and tough as nails to boot. Ortiz more or less toyed with him, and knocked him down at will, something which only Wlad was previously able to do. It might have been a faded Thompson, but not that faded. 7/10

Scott was a decent fighter who'd only lost to Chisora previously in a rather iffy British stoppage. He'd also been stupid enough to take a dive against Wilder, which sullied his record and reputation among fans, but shouldn't diminish his skills as a fighter. Again Ortiz knocked him down at will, the few occasions Scott actually bothered to stop running and engage, and amassed a ludicrously wide points decision as a result. It's a fight which he's often criticised for, but it takes two to tango, and Scott was a very willing dance partner that night. Ortiz made the most of the situation, and never even let Scott into the fight. 7/10

Jennings was a top class contender who'd only lost to Wlad in a close and somewhat competitive showing, and had previously nicked scalps over Perez, Fedosov and an undefeated Szpilka. Yet again Ortiz battered him and rocked or knocked him down every time he landed clean. It was a scary destruction of a man who'd just gone twelve relatively unscathed against the heavyweight champion of the world. 8/10

I fully expect him to clean Wilder's clock provided no funny business has gone on behind closed doors. He's just far too good to lose to a fighter as sloppy and idiotic as Bum Squad, he really is.

3-4 years ago yes. Now Ortiz has faded and could be over 40.

    It's a 50/50 imo.

Not impressed by either in all honesty, and both look like massive hype jobs.

The 0's in their losses column doesn't look impressive when you view the wins they both have.
