Would Maidana be a bigger threat to Mayweather than Canelo was?

Just a random thought i had the other day... I think Canelo is a bigger overall talent than Maidana and he's obviously a much bigger guy, but i don't know if he necessarily punches harder than Chino.

Also, styles make fights. Canelo foolishly tried to box Mayweather and got dominated. Maidana, while his technique has improved, wouldn't attempt any such thing. He would bring the heat and make it as a ugly a fight as he would get the chance to do. Maidana is also a deal more experienced than Canelo, and has been through much more as a fighter.

I wouldn't give Maidana much of a chance to beat Mayweather, but he might present more danger than Canelo. Thoughts?

Hell no. Maidana couldn't bully mayweather. Mayweather is now a full strong welterweight. A guy the size of Ortiz and Canelo couldn't bully mayweather. You think Maidana could?

I'd say about the same. Canelo is bigger and more skilled but he doesn't walk guys down but just boxes. Maidana would push the action and walk Floyd down. He also throws punches from awkward angles. He will probably get countered to death but Canelo didn't do squat against Floyd either.

Nah Floyd is strong. He comes in at 150, but its 150 all muscle with not a lot of fat. You got guys like Maidana that come in 150 and pack a punch. BUT arent conditioned or physically strong enough to beat him. (punching power and physical strength are not the same)

Maidana was 160 in the ring against Broner.

Maidana would probably make it a more exciting fight but that's about it.

Exactly but whats 160 pounds when not most of is muscle. He'd have a 10 pound weight advantage, but it would be negated by Floyds inside game. And he wouldnt be bullied because Moneys no p---y.

    Maidana has like zero skill

    Floyd is elite

Don't make me laugh by suggesting chino has a chance

Canelo never really tried to bully Mayweather, and Ortiz was beaten down by Maidana in case you forgot... It's about more than size, it's also about heart, toughness, mentality, determination and so on...

With that said, to get back to your question, i'm not sure if Maidana's brand of in-your-face roughness would have any effect on Floyd, but he's more of a 'natural bully' in the ring than either guy you mentioned, and while Floyd's chin and toughness have shown up when they needed too in his career, Corley and Mosley showed that he CAN be hurt, which means that Maidana CAN hurt him too if he can get one in there... slim chance, but life is full of surprises especially in boxing!

:patsch did you even read my opening post? Because i'm pretty sure it closed with something like "i don't give Maidana much of a chance to beat Mayweather, he just might present a little more danger"
