I'm not sure. He isnt very skilled but he's significantly stockier than Bivol, and even Beterbiev. Plus he obviously had power. Could he have pulled it off ?

Yes. Cruiserweight power is still cruiserweight power. He'd land eventually.

Mchunu, who got robbed against Makabu would have beaten Canelo handily.

Makabu would have a harder time against Canelo due to his lack of skills, but he’d probably win due to his size and power.

He would have likely slept Canelo.
    Levels to the weight matters.
    Not everyone can be Usyk.

I wouldn't say Makabu has a lack of skills, just because he struggled against Mchunu in the rematch, remember, he violently KHTFO in the first fight. It's just a case of a really on point Mchunu, who's capable of 12-0ing Denis Lebedev is a tough guy to look good against, yet even in the rematch, Makabu managed to win more rounds off of him than Lebedev did.

    I doubt it.

I wouldn't completely discount him winning if he took a year or so putting on the weight right, did a shake out fight to get used to it, etc, etc.

The other factor is how committed Makabu would be to winning.

No, I think Canelo would have found a way to pull it off. Makabu hits like a truck though, and is more skilled than he looks, but he was slow and sluggish in his last fight and looked very beatable.

The Makabu of a few years ago would have slept Canelo though, back when he still had a bit of speed and snap.

    No.

He is the weakest champion in the near 6 divisions.

The gulf in skill is vast but that size difference would be a massive hurdle, I think Canelo would've struggled badly with that type of physicality and strength, I don't think it would have been pretty, there's probably a reason it never actually materialised.. too strong imo ., Plus a cruiserweight version of Canelo would be slower, it was a stupid idea to move up to that weight in the first place and in retrospect the Usyk talk was cringe from his fans

I agree. The Russian was 40 years old and inactive when they fought… He'd had three fights since 2016..

Lebedev at his peak beats the brakes of Mchunu
