I'm fairly intrigued by this fight. Broner is a very strong LW but is more comfortable fighting stationary targets. Malignaggi is no longer the annoyingly fast boxer he was but still only really has problems with quick fighters like Khan. Broner telegraphs his punches but is capable of doing so because his opponents thus far have no real movement. Paulie in his hey day was quite quick and took some great shots from a prime Cotto when he needed to. I wouldn't be surprised if Paulie pulls out a MD or SD.
Its going to be a huge huge upset, and Paulie better pray for a miracle to win this fight. Even though he is highly skilled and shows plenty of heart, Broner will just be too much for him.
Not at all. This is a close fight. Broner is untested and frankly not that good. He's only being built off his connection with GB and with his imitating Floyd, but he's no Floyd. He's not even half as good, and his footwork is amongst the worst of all boxers. Just one level up from Brandon Rios. Im betting on Paulie, and its fights like these that I'm happy boxing fans can be so stupid and un-indepedent minded at times. The betting odds are so pretty because of it.
For someone as "overrated" as Broner, there sure are high expectations of him.. a guy jumping up two weightclasses losing to a legit champ and world class fighter is considered a "huge upset"? only on ESB..
If broner wasent climbing 2 weight classes then id say yes Come to think of it what is the biggest upset of this year currently (was cotto trout this year or last?)
Weight divisions usually separate fighters because there's a difference in natural power, strength, mobility and chin within different divisions. None of these factor into this fight even in the tiniest of ways, so it really makes zero difference.
Broner is p4p no.6 don't you know. Rated higher than Rigo. A fighter on Rigo's level would never lose to a fighter of Paulie's calibre, so in that way it should be shocking. But of course I think that ranking is purely a business ranking on GB's behalf. Anyway, it justifies the high expectations to the casual fan.
In terms of casuals, yes. In terms of people who actually keep up with boxing, no. Broner shouldn't even be in the top 10 p4p. Dude is way overrated.
Im riding this bandwagon. I truly believe he is a p4p talent even though his record doesn't necessarily back that claim up. I would be very surprised if Paulie outboxes Broner.
im agreeing with this guy... altho some people see this as a close fight, i just see broner being WAYYYY too much for for paulie as far as strength and accuracy.
Nah Rios beating Pac would be the winner. Paulie loses every time he steps up and this fight should be no different.
