...with the plaster in his handwraps? Of course he wouldn't have, in my opinion, because Shane Mosley hit him with much cleaner and harder shots than Cotto did, and didn't get hit as much by Marg as Cotto did. Margarito may have has plaster in his wraps against Cotto, but the bottom line is, he still had to do two things: take Cotto's punches, and land effective punches of his own. If Cotto had better defense, and was able to avoid more of Maragrito's blows, he wouldn't have lost, he doesn't, so he did lose. I'm tired of Cotto fans citing the possibility of illegal wraps as the only reason Cotto lost. He didn't lose because of some plaster, he lost because he was getting hit...a lot. It can't be proven, and the clincher for me is that during the post fight interview, Maragrito had his gloves off, and the wraps were exposed on live TV. Is that something someone with something to hide would do?

Thing is tho. Cotto didn't start to get hit cleanly until about the 8 round, yeah a few shots here and there in the first 7 rounds. Once he did, he kept slowing down dramatically. Due to the plaster hardening up. Mosely's chin is no doubt better than Cotto's but hey, anyone would slow down if Bricks were hitting their chin and stomach. Cintron says the same thing. He's never felt a punch like that before, especially in the 4th and 5th round when he got dropped.

Considering Marg barely laid a glove on Shane, I dont see how his loaded wraps woulda mattered. Plus Mosley's chin is waaayy better than Cotto's anyway.

Mosley would have still won, Cotto's prior fight against Margarito led Mosley to the blueprint on how to defeat Margarito. Mosley and his team put a great plan and you seen the outcome. But lets say if Margarito fought Mosley first with plaster than Cotto. Maybe the outcome would have been a little different, but still favoring Mosley as the winner. I feel Margarito took as much as punishment as Cotto in the fight. Some say Cotto mentally is not the same, but would Margarito ever be the same as well. Even if he didnt know he was using illegal tactics, how would that make a man feel? His confidence is def. hurting at an all time high knowing or not knowing he needed something illegal to defeat his opponents.

Nothing much would have changed, Mosley had a great game plan and Margarito barely touched him.

YOU got that one right, my friend! Why some ppl refuse to admit this guy has had been doing this before just baffles me, then again, like some other posters have noted, I don't know if Cotto could've still won .... Cotto wasn't landing as clean as SM and was getting hit a lot more (with plaster though)... he could've possibly survived to a decision, but................ anyways, the single most important factor IMO, may not even be the wraps , but the clinching factor . Cotto needs to clinch when facing a rival like Marg, there's no shame on it . SM did it , and 99% of fighters do it to some degree more or less. He needs to attack, clinch, separate, repeat... that, IMO, would be a recipe 4 success.

Of course he did. He was outclassed from the beginning. Those illegal wraps were are all that saved him from losing every round.

I think Mosley would have still won..

Altho i do also think getting caught before the fight may have also ****ed with Marg's mind.

that HAD to be distracting for him.

No I dont think so, to me from what I heard even the hater of Margarito Walk With Me posted a thread prior to the fight a few weeks infact, stating Margarito was struggling with the weight, he came into camp very heavy and only had six weeks to take off that weight...

I honestly beleive that Margarito took Mosley light,.... he celebrated that Cotto win a bit too much.... which is why I Think his "Trainer" attempted to set the plaster paris....

I do not beleive Margarito knew his trainer was doing this, if you were watching the hearing on FNF's they showed a video of that hearing which showed the commissioner removing two small strips.... looked no bigger than a stick of chewing gum......
Something that small is not going to be noticed by a fighter, alot of fighters do not pay attention to their hands when they are being wrapped though most do pay attention there are alot that do not...

As to this handwrapping deal and Margarito.
Let's remember that Margarito went the distance with both Williams and Clottey and neither were marked up too bad.

Yep. Margarito would've been beaten to hell before the wraps came into play anyway. Agreed.
