Would Margarito have made the hall of fame had he not been caught loading his glove?

He was a beast who collected some great scalps, and I think he was on his way to the Hall but for l'affaire handwraps and then his career being cut short by the eye injury. He really should not have been allowed to fight by the doctors going into the second Cotto fight.

He also has a tremendous record of ESB fantasy fight wins, which many on here seem to believe is admissible criteria for entry into the HOF and the top of the ATG ranks. So he's got that going for him also.

 

How can you say that after they found Plaster of Paris in his wraps prior to the Mosely fight? And he lost 3 out of 4 fights after they found the illegal wraps, before retiring.

You talking to me? The question was "if he had not been caught loading his gloves." Like I was saying, but for the handwraps incident, yes, he was HOF bound in my opinion.

The question of whether he was really loading his wraps is separate. About that, really I'm no expert. I've never looked at any of the findings and never really followed the story.

 

You now have 3 guys who say Margarito never cheated. Why do you guys say this? Why did Margarito go to jail? Why did he lose 3 out of his last 4 fights once the illegal wraps were found?

Instead of just saying he didn't cheat, how about an explanation as to why you believe this. And don't say, he is a nice guy. That won't fly.

Margarito crushed his sparring partner's orbital...with head gear on, made Cotto bleed from eyes and ears, exploded Lujan's ear, was photographed with cracked bloody wraps, was the first to beat Cotto, Cintron, and Martinez, all at times when they were beasts or later proved to be. He accomplished all this while everyone agreed he was void of skill, then he gets caught with loaded wraps, and then gets slapped around like a piñata by an old man, a guy he already beat, and a midget. I know the Margarito "believer's" don't actually believe anything their saying, I just like shaming them with the irrefutable facts their hero is a certified sissy.

Are you apologists for Margarito just stupid, or do you know something the rest of us don't know? If you do, tell us what you know. I'm all for learning the truth. If Margarito didn't cheat, tell me how you know this. Don't just say things like "you're an idiot." That doesn't carry any weight. It's not a plausible refutation.

All of you apologists are saying the same thing, he didn't cheat, but you are not saying how you know this.

 

Here's just one reason. Margarito/Cotto 2(saw it again last Sat) was almost a carbon copy of the first fight and Margarito was putting a similar hurting on Cotto(fight only got stopped due the eye injury that Pac caused).:deal
