Would Margarito have made the hall of fame had he not been caught loading his glove?

That's not going to fly. I saw the fight as well.

I was a Margarito fan until the story broke on the wraps. It's not like I hate Margarito. I thought it was a great story. No money, beautiful wife, worked his way up the hard way. I was on board.

But when I see that he had plaster of Paris in his wraps prior to the Mosely fight and they had him change them, and then have him go out and lose badly to Mosely, and then lose the rematch to Cotto, it is hard to believe this was the first fight he was using the plaster of Paris.

Take away the emotions. Look at it pragmatically.

It doesn't take a lot to swing a fight. I'm not saying Margarito wasn't a tough SOB. He was. He could definitely take a punch. But if he was hitting guys with loaded gloves, that swings the balance way over in his favor. WAY over.

Plaster of Paris? Really. Good thing you're not being emotional about this and being totally pragmatic.

You are trying to make it sound like your take on this is the only viable scenario.

Am I talking with a child here? How is it emotional to repeat what is said in an article? The only viable scenario? What are you talking about? It is talked about in everything you find on Margarito. Look, if you can't defend your position rationally without attacking the messenger, your argument is not very convincing.

both are wrong and both are form of cheating but i feel that the injecting of xylocaine to fist before a fight is a more serious offense than placing an old hardened strip of gauze in between the padding to a knuckle.

Let's see Margarito took his gloves off, shook hands with multiple people ringside and was out in the open and nobody noticed anything unusual

When Resto tampered with the gloves he was caught shaking hands with Collins corner post fight. If Margarito had so terribly cheated vs Cotto the ref the corner and Cotto woulda knew post fight when the gloves came off

There were long debates about this on here a few yrs ago and no one had any evidence at all. Margarito got caught trying to cheat vs Mosley we know that cause he was caught. There's nothing there for the Cotto fight

It wasn't an old, hardened strip of gauze. It was plaster of Paris powder that was not hard when the hands were wrapped. Plaster of Paris only hardens when moistened, which is why it could not be detected when wrapping the gloves.

How the hell is Margarito a HOFer Clottey is not a big win what has he ever done, Cintron, Lewis,... what have they ever done in boxing. Claiming Martinez as a big win is like saying they guys who KO'd Pac when he was 16 or the guy who beat Hopkins in his first fight are huge wins. The only half way decent thing he's done was beat Cotto but he got caught cheating in his very next fight 6 months later KO'd and suspended from the sport.

Guys like Judah, Donaire, Casa, Castillo, Tarver have done more in boxing and have better accomplishments yet people will bash you if you claim there HOF yet bum ass Margarito is a HOFer

Ha haa...that is a funny video...oh, my bad, that was supposed to be your home run hit in offensiveness, too bad for you I'm not a Floyd fan. Now continue and try to convince some bigger morons than you that xylocaine is worse than loaded gloves...

Not a fan, but he had an amazing chin. Did he have plaster on his chin too? Was he using a special 5 minute concrete mix when he kod fghters in the first round? What a bunch of numbnuts. He hurts Pacman with a bodyshot and STILL has Cotto backpedaling after Cotto tries to go toe to toe with him in the rematch. The orbital crackage Pacquiao had already put there for Cotto to take advantage of STILL wasn't stopping Margarito from going after Cotto. Margo never took a knee unlike Niguel cotto.
