Would Margarito's recent fights have different outcomes even with illegal wraps?

Let's say that the speculation is true and he was always using loaded gloves, would they even have made a difference?

Shane Mosley - Still would have beat the crap out of him
Miguel Cotto - Still had the wrong game plan backing up to the ropes.
Paul Williams - Still would have outworked him and won on points.
Kermit Cintron - Still couldn't handle the pressure.

Only thing I see is that if his gloves were loaded against Cotto then he probably wouldn't have knocked him out had they not been.

    Unknown.

If he did load up against Cotto for instance, it's quite stupid to assume Tony would've won without them. I won't say he definitely would lose without them too.

    It's just unknown.

i basically agree with everything you say except the part about cotto having the wrong game plan thats just stupid. he had the perfect gameplan as he won 5 of the first 6 rounds and probabley wouldve won the rest if the plaster hadnt of harden'd and margo's body shots werent more powerfull so cotto wouldnt of gotten as tired and warn out as he did

you'll have to dig deeper than just 4 fights .
Sebastian Lujan would still have his ear in one piece without margo's bricks.

IF they were loaded against Cotto (and that, while not proven, is quite likely) then given the way the fight unfolded, Cotto would probably have eeked out a decision under fairer terms.

if he did have loaded wraps against Cotto, and the wraps really harden after a couple of rounds when they start getting wet, then I think there's a clear case to be made that Cotto would've won by UD. Cotto was dominating early on and Margo's punches really wore him down and out as the fight went on. And its not like Cotto was KO'd in the 6th round, he was KO'd in the 11th.

Clearly, IF Margo used hardened wraps that add power to his punches, then the outcome is in question.

Same with Clottey. That fight has to be completely re-evaluated.

    Cintron i don't think so.

Mosley doesn't change anything, MArgo barely landed a punch.

Williams might have beat him even worse.

They've all got a question mark hanging over them and that is the fact of life that Margo will have to deal with as his legacy is discussed into the future.

What I think will be telling is IF he gets to fight again - To gauge his performances against tough opposition against his say post-Williams loss record.

It's a bit too soon to say I think.

i agree with that completely. i agreed with everything except that bit about cotto who seemed to just collapse from shots of reasonable, but not exceptional, power. it was as if someone had loaded margo's gloves...wait a minute!?!

in any case, it is my opinion that he probably started loaded those bricks in after the loss to williams...getting on in years, at or beyond his atheltic peak already, likely to get another shot, but stay off the main stage for good if he loses it, thinking he was just giving himself payback for being "avoided" out of the big money, high profile fights he "deserved." it's just a damn shame and an ugly wart on the sport.

fights! Especially Cotto's :-( Cotto would have won by
    decision:good

I totally forgot about Lujan, that's some good evidence right there.

No. The wraps didn't have enough substance on them to make any real difference.
