Would Martinez/Chavez II turn out like Martinez/Williams II?

    Not sure.

Jr. would have to open up like PW in order for Martinez to potentially land a PW KO blow.

Considering JR.'s stylistic offering last Saturday was more of the Clottey variety, it would be a distinct contrast to how he would have to perform in a rematch to give Martinez the opportunity to land a home run shot.

I don't think so cause jr is just so big and its very difficult to land with a perfectly placed/timed punch like the one that nailed Williams

It did pretty much look like Sergio did what he wanted WHEN he wanted.

These guys never tell the truth it seems so we may never know. Yeah, the one punch KO in round two is not likely but I could see a stoppage later on. I think it is bad for Jr not to take a couple easy fights first.

Sergio would do better in the rematch.

This would not be round 13 of fight 1.

It would be round 1 of fight 2. Not to mention Chavez Jr. eye and that will have a negative play on himself.

Martinez by TKO if they fought again. Chavez Jr. has confirmed the eye surgery and he will be weaker than ever in terms of being able to react and brace for a punch.

Just hearing about the eye surgery. Thanks for the info. I'll look into that.

No, I think Chavez would do better assuming his chin isn't ruined from the hundreds of punches he took. He's naturally bigger and more solid than Williams was.

Just now catching up on the surgery thing. Too soon to say what effect that will have on him.

truly believe so, chavez would try from the beginning the throw more, would open up and get caught williams style.

its going to take jr a bit of time to heal. he was ****ed up. i also wonder if that last round moment allows him to save face rather than really want a rematch. i don't know if he is going to want to get in there again w/ him. he can point to the last round all he wants but like i said, its just to save face.

duddy, rubio, lyell, lee, manfredo...he can bang away on these guys all he wants but i'm pretty sure sergio just beat a tough lesson into him and i doubt jr is going to want to sit through another lesson.

I think Martinez would stop Jr in rematch. Indeed people will remember that knock down of this fight and not all those 11 rounds of ass whooping that Martinez gave to Jr.

What I'll remember from this fight is that Martinez was a true warrior that recovered pretty fast from that KD and then went to war with Jr finishing the fight on his feet ! :yep

Yeah, I doubt Jr wants back in with Martinez anytime soon. He'll ride his KD and 12th round heroics up to 168. As some have pointed out, the recovery time off is likely to make in nearly impossible for him to come back to 160.

Chavez would do so much better in rematch, knowing that he can hurt Martinez.

Martinez on the other hand, knowing that one Chavez punch can hurt him, will change his style or get KTFOd.

Thus, it would be a different fight his time around. Sorta like Pac-Morales III where both fighters already knew who was the stronger fighter, as shown by their fight before. Result? BLOODBATH.
