    Mayweather isn't a 6 foot middleweight.

    So no...

At that weight, Mayweather likely gets knocked out.

I thought Martinez fought Barker at 160.

    Was it 154?

People really need to put Martinez' performance into perspective as well.

Martinez was up against a well-schooled, if resume deficient, tall, defensive boxer, with a solid jab, with good footwork that allowed him to "fight tall."

When was the last time Mayweather was in with this type of opponent?

Oh, ****...that's right, unless you count a faded De La Hoya, Mayweather has never been in with an opponent that was tall, defensively sound, with a solid jab.

And even against De La Hoya, his performance was mediocre and led to a disputed decision, while Martinez was clearly winning, and still managed to close the show with a one punch knock out.

So before you diminish Martinez' performance, and consider his odds against Mayweather, you should probably take a look at the big picture.

Mayweather would lose bad. Martinez would kill him with size and reach, Floyd wouldn't be able to use his usual strategy of hanging back and counterpunching.

Don't think you can deduce anything from the Barker bout towards a future one with Mayweather or Pacquiao - vastly different fighters all three.

I think Barker proved that he is a very good fighter in his own right with very different attributes to what Mayweather would offer in a potential bout, Barker proved on saturday that although he isnt elite like the Martinez's and Mayweather's of this world, he can at the very least push forward and imo has enough about him to become a future belt holder, he does however need a conditioning coach to take him to that next level. Mayweather would fight nothing like Barker did on saturday night nor should he try, its a fight that Mayweather can win comfortably by just being himself.

Good post. I don't think enough people have the brains or acumen to look the big picture to be honest.

I predict more the line if "Barker ain't even as good as Floyd!!:lol:" type of ****. :-(

Either that or just go with our gut feeling, which is that Mayweather UDs him over twelve.

But thanks for your elaborate OPINION.

You sound like you are 100% on the outcome.
