Would Miguel Cotto be better off if he faced Andre Berto instead of Yuri Foreman?

He does have the massive edge in experience but he's got the massive disadvantage in terms of freshness by the same token. When Mosley/Berto was on, I was fixated largely on the experience level at first but Mosley also has the durability that Cotto doesn't in case he starts eating the younger man's faster shots on the way in.

I am not really simplifying it. I honestly think you are overgeneralizing a bit. I see what you mean from a boxing perspective of "one punch", but look at Cotto's last fights. In the fight he won he was gassed and getting hit. In the fights he lost he gassed and was KOed. Previous to that he has been down a FEW times.

I see a lot of the same behavior in him as Jermain Taylor. A real game skilled guy who has seen "the other side". Towards the end he mentally breaks. The outcomes of these fights are forming a pattern.

I don't want to see the guy hurt.

I doubt Foreman can hurt Cotto, and while Berto isn't Tommy Hearns, I'm very confident he has enough to Stop Cotto.

That's gotta be the only time I've heard Andre's name mentioned with Tommy Hearns.

Cotto just got knocked the **** out. He needs to fight someone who can't hurt him. Berto has overrated power, but still has enough to hurt Cotto. Foreman isn't an ideal matchup due to his size, but he's not a big puncher and generally doesn't fight coming foward. These are the guys Cotto usually eats alive. However, you may see a more agressive Foreman in this fight though. He's fighting a smaller, damaged fighter, who has problems taking a punch and who is coming up in weight.

Berto?? Bob Arum isn't Andre Berto's promoter, why would he make this fight?? What a ridiculous question.

Cotto is incredible,, not the best, but his Stoic refusal to lay down and even really take a rest. I think and hope he beats Foreman - and in many ways if he does I'll be a prouder fan than if (eg) Pac beats Floyd... Cotto's gonna be remembered as a warrior no matter what -and lets not forget he could still pull out the same kind of awe inspiring first 5 rounds against margo,,, before the cement dried hard (?)

lmao... How many Margarito fights have you seen? Sebastian Lujan, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Diaz, and many others must have been pretty awe inspiring against Margarito as well too, eh?

I'm with you on that one. I saw Cotto get hurt and lose round two, and I saw him getting broke down in the rest of the rounds before getting stopped in the 11th. He may have won rounds 3-5 because of clean punching, but it was obvious that Margartio was more in control and more comfortable. Round 1 was the only round that Cotto was really in control.

True. Cotto had possibly the easiest target in all boxing right dead in front of him, walking into shot after shot, over and over. Not exactly something to write home about.

A win over Berto certainly is better I think to at least reclaim his status at welter. If he wins against Yuri, is he going to defend that title with the other bigger guys? DON'T KNOW.
