He got dominated a little by Cotto's physical presence, but would Mosley be too fast and powerful for Floyd? Many including me thought Mosley deserved at least a draw against Cotto. This fight would be brilliant, Floyd ain't ever fought someone like Sugar Shane.
Floyd would outbox him clearly at this stage in both their careers. Cotto beat Mosley by a rather fair margin on my cards as well, I didn't think it was as close on the cards as everyone else, at all. About 8-4 for Cotto. A prime Mosley on the other hand is a different fight, for both men. He doesn't have the speed or tenacity he used to. The Mosley of his early WW days would be slightly favored by myself over Cotto, being as it looked to me like he let too many liberties go in their actual encounter, ones he would've capitalized on in his prime. I think prime Shane could also give Floyd at 147 a rough time, not entirely sure about him winning though. I'll give it some thought, and have my actual analysis later.
I disagree with one of your points. Cotto deserved that win. I watch that fight all the time and always end up scoring it for Cotto. I predicted a Mosley win before the fight. Mosley would give PBF alot of trouble thats why that fight isnt getting made or the Cotto-PBF. DLH gave PBF alot of trouble in the early going when he was active and throwing alot of punches. Mosley does not tire like DLH and would throw the whole 12 rounds with even greater speed that DLH. I want this fight to get made so bad but im afraid it will never happen.
I thought Cotto won a close, but clear decision against Shane. But regarding Mosley/Mayweather, Floyd would be too fast and too precise for Shane. He would counter him effectively, land the cleaner shots, and land more shots en route to a 12 round unanimous decision (8-4 or so).
That's a reason I have a hard time picking him over Floyd, even if I want to. Shane is a mid-range fighter almost exclusively, one who picks his spots, Floyd is an outboxer who uses his movement and accuracy to score points, and even though Shane is a very tenacious, strong fighter, he is not a better in-fighter skill-wise than Floyd. Style-wise I think Floyd takes this, Shane simply doesn't seem to have the style to win here. Standing at mid-range, picking your spots to throw off combos(and rather wild ones at times), and like you said, showing lapses in defense, are not the way to beat Floyd. A younger Shane has a much better chance than this Shane though, simply because he was a much more impressive physical specimen, had a higher workrate, and would make Floyd work to land the cleaner shots. I think Floyd would land the cleaner shots, but he'd get roughed up at times in the process, maybe not enough for Shane to take a decision though. Cotto, on the other hand, has the style to beat Floyd.
he couldnt tear estrada a new *******, he couldnt tear collazo a new *******...........but he tears pbf one???:huh The only thing mosley obviously does is bring out the ASSHOLES........namely YOU:hi: PBF W12 (120-108) MOSLEY
Who are you again? Mosley had Cotto's granite chin rocked so he'd land some sweet shots on PBF's chin which is more than anyone else has ever done in Floyd's career. Mosley has a kind of speed and power which is frightening in boxing, that only Pacquiao and Roy Jones Jr. have had in recent years. It would be a close fight...so go and get ****ed, yeah? :hey
Cotto is not as fast as Floyd and managed to give Mosley some preety hard punches to the head, I beleive Floyd would beat Mosley by UD
in mosley's prime, i wouldn't say tear him a new *******, but it'd be a VERY tough fight for mayweather. now...mayweather outboxes him for a UD, with mosley having his moments.
At this point, Shane is getting picked off repeatedly. In a prime 4 prime matchup, Shane would terrorize Floyd with his power(speed and strength) and combos. Shane of 1999-2000 was a beast at welter.
Ive scored it 5 times and I had it a draw once, two for Cotto two for Mosley. So its a draw overall for me. Also, I dont think Mosley has the style to beat Floyd. Specially with his slowed offense.
