Would Napoles beat Duran and/or Whitaker at 140lbs?

If someone pointed a gun at you and demanded not your money
but a pick between Napoles and Whitaker who would you pick? None of this 50/50 ****...(I think Whitaker could do it. He would have to fight a very defensively oreinted fight though.)

If that's the case, obviously I'd choose Whitaker, given that I prefer him slightly between the two and with a 50/50 fight like this that's really all there is to go on.

Napoles would give any welter in history more than a handfull. However I think that he loses to duran by late round tko and to whitaker by decision. Could go the other way for both fights.

i have watched alot more of napoles than pea but heres my take just for you sweet pea lol

napoles likes to establish his jab then land his combos and i think whittakers defence and elusiveness would make napoles jab hit fresh air and not let him set himself up for the combos and Sweet Pea would counter off of this. Sweet Peas offence i think would be nuetralised by Napoles defence as Napoles would counter Sweet Pea as he came in to through his shots. So i think they would end up feinting and trying to make each other lead to counter and i think Napoles aggresiveness would win the fight as i think he would be walking forward trying to makie perneel throw

but you never know it could turn into a slugfest

Napoles' only real weakness was his tendency to cut and swell up. He was a far better and more accomplished welter champ than either Duran or Whitaker. He was slick enough to do a number on Duran ala Leonard, but with even more pop on his punches, and would have decked The Pea en route to a decision victory, in both cases, that is, providing he dosent get cut real bad, or his eyes swell up too much. Napoles is in a different class from anyone Duran or Whitaker ever fought.

i agree with you red cobra but i see against duran with his high paced attacks and good accuracy he will cut Jose and win on cuts but i hate to say it

First of all, he wasn't far better than either, even at WW, he was just more accomplished. The Duran of the Leonard fight was arguably better than any WW version of Napoles, and Whitaker was in the same class as well. He fought nothing like Leonard did in the rematch, so that's not a very fair comparison either, at all. And saying he's in a different class than Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Benitez, Chavez, etc is also far fetched. Napoles was brilliant, one of my favorite fighters, but there's no use discrediting other fighters just because a comparison was made.
