Fight would be insignificant if above 140. JMM himself said the weight was too much for him against Mayweather.
I would lose my respect for Manny Pacquiao, if he ask Marquez to go up to 147 to fight him. 140 is a fair weight for them to fight.
In the history of boxing nobody gained.. single shot power moving up in weight. I guess Manny is the exception b/c he fights for his god and country. And he has the spirit of 1000 gorillas and 300 rabid monkeys.
pac and freddy will not fight Marquez on eveh terms again. They did twice already and look what happened.140 tops would be for JMM.135 ideal. They want JMM now because they think he's done.He may still have pacs number.
Thats what manny wants.....fights to benefit him to much....thats why he wouldnt agree to the one thing floyd ask for
At 130, he still have the power, but his compettion at that division is incomparable, even using yesteryears criteria. MAB, JMM, Morales, are not exactly weak chinned fighters yet he KDed them 8 times. Even JMM, who was outweighed, outpunched, outmuscled by Mayweather was only KDed once, and that KDed was not even like JMM was disorientated like in the Pac-JMM 2 where he went to the wroing corner after the KD.
So the consensus in this thread seems to be that Marquez's only hope to defeat Pacquiao is to bring him into the fight weight-drained?
i think if the fight takes place above 140 it would be non-competetive. My sig? Not sure, if it.s the unfit.Featherfisted thing thats just a joke. me i suppose.
Yeah, but you still haven't specified why. Pacquiao and Marquez would both weigh the same in the ring whether the weigh-in was set at 140 or 147. Unless you think that weighing in at 140 is somehow a problem for Pacquiao at this point (and he was 138 at weigh in for Hatton) then there's no reason why the fight would be any different at either nominal weight.
I just feel 147 is a step too far for Marquez, he looked sluggish against Floyd's speed.Manny is just as fast at 147 as he was at the lower weights but he's more powerful than ever the same can't be said of Juan. 140 would put them on a more even keel..
You seem to be ignoring the point I'm actually making. If the fight is 'at 140' Pacquiao would come to the ring at about 148 and Marquez at about 142. If the fight is 'at 147' Pacquiao would come to the ring at about 148 and Marquez at about 142. It wouldn't make any difference.
