Would Pacquiao set another boxing record this coming May 7?

Pretty much my thoughts. The economy is in a bad spot on those two dimensions, and they matter for fight fans' pocketbooks and PPV buys.

Still, I would be very surprised if this fight does under 1 million buys. It could be promoted a little better, perhaps, and Showtime has less PPV infrastructure than does HBO, but Pacquiao is an icon at this point. That should carry the day here, IMO.

It's pathetic that you are being dead serious. At the absolute most, 100,000 people would be swayed from buying the fight to not buying it. And that is the absolute most.

But yes, I too think it will break 1 mil.

its not fair to compare something tyson did 20 years ago to now...there are far more satellite companies, cable providers that werent around back then...also the big bar scenes and clubs who have it beamed in now, they didnt do during tyson-ruddock for example...if you were gonna watch that, had to be in your living room, now you can watch through your xbox, streamed. bars, clubs, ect. and if a bar for example has a 250 capacity seating...thats what goes into the stats as how they are charged....they dont get charged for 1 buy....
its almost like comparing opening weekend movie grosses for a movie in 2011 to one in 1978
there are ten times more the theaters
and the population is more too

In boxing anything can happen, all it takes is ONE punch. Upsets, they happen. As a matter of fact, they have been happening all month!
