In terms of single shots a la mosley, no. But single shots are perfect prey for the counterpuncher. Manny's knockouts come from what someone said above, a combination of speed and workrate. His fists aren't light, but they aren't manos de piedra either. However, if he can weaken floyd's defense by keeping his punches and rhythm varied enough, he's got a better chance than anyone to drop PBF.

The differences between Mosley and Pacquiao are extreme.

Mosley for starters is 38 years old and has been proven to use PEDs in the past for big fights. Who knows how long he was using them. They could have pretty much made him the 12 round swarmer he's remembered as.

Secondly, Pacquiao has been accused of using PEDs and so far nothing has come of it. If we assume Pacquiao isn't using PEDs then we have to assume he can go 12 rounds with two guns blazing.

Pacquiao is a brilliant southpaw who can land from different angles like Zab Judah did. Zab controlled Floyd for 3 rounds until the pace of the fight wore him out. That and the counter punching of Floyd. The reason Zab controlled Floyd was that Zab could find the little angles that were (and always are) available against Floyd. With the right amount of speed and perception this is possible.

Pacquiao made Cotto look like an easy fight which is really not easy to do at all. Mosley had a lot of difficulty with Cotto. This pretty much sums up the different fighter that Floyd would be in with. Against Pacquiao, Floyd would be fighting someone who could touch him often and consistently for an entire 12 rounds. It would force Floyd to really dig deep. He may do that or he may crumble.

I for one think such a high pace fight (if Pacquiao isn't using PEDs), where Pacquiao's relentless attack will eventually break Floyd down. Think like how Chavez broke Roger down. That kind of fight but maybe a bit more involved.

 

Until Pac takes those blood tests? Pac's punching power has an (*) next to it.

01. Mosley wasn't "proven" anything. He admitted he took it. He said he didn't know.

02. Something did come of it. Pac is running scared of USADA testing and won't fight ANYONE not in his camp on fear of it coming up again in negotiations.

03. You are a fool if you think Zab and Pac share ANYTHING in common stylistically other than stance.

04. I applaud you for at least acknowledging that Pac's pace could possibly be the result of PED use.
