Would Patterson have stood a CHANCE to beat Frazier?

A very good match-up. Frazier at his best was devasting . Patterson was very clever, very fast and he could punch - but too often he has been judged by his losses to Liston and Johanson.
Frazier was close to defeat against a raw but strong Bonavena and Eddie Machen gave him all he could handle untill surrendering in the 10th.
I don“t think Patterson would fall the way Bob Foster or Jimmy Ellis did against Frazier. Patterson would fight a smarter fight, counterpunch Frazier and keep out of the dangerzone.
I think Patterson would loose a a very close decison to Frazier.

I just don't see it. Footwork fight.

Floyd isn't backing this guy up. Patterson is the guy on retreat here and I sure don't like his footwork in retreat mode. Same thing with Joe for that matter retreating, but I personally don't think Floyd has a 5% chance of backing this opponent up.

Pattersons hand speed gives him a chance and some success early but Joe wears his body down and finishes him earlier than he did Machen, maybe 6th round.

He may try but staying away from Frazier was next to impossible. Joe moved in so fast and cut the ring so well Patterson would find himself in the dangerzone too often to survive the distance.

I'm actually more interested in late 60's Liston getting the shot
