Or not? Do his 14 losses trouble you? How many of them are you willing to write off due to his oncoming blindness? His resume is not to bad, he's got Scanlon, Burns, Wallace, Soldberg, McHugh, Lynch and, of course, Jimmy Wilde. Jimmy Wilde was the beggining of the second astonishing chapter of Herman's career, near-breaking the huge-hearted past-prime Wilde on a stoppage in the 17th, having just lost his title. He would go on to regain that title from the man who bestted him, Joe Lynch, although even a single defence was beyond him. So a two-time bantamweight champion back when that meant something, a two-handed brawler on the inside seen even in those days as a bit of a specialist body-puncher, he could also box on the outside. He also had power, dropping men that had never been down before and stopping men with world class punch resistance. What you think? This content is protected
McGrain, Ihonestly do not know enough about him to rank him, but Bantamweight is a very deep and competitive division witht he info you have giving I think he would just miss out. Something like this 1. Jofre 2. Dixon 3. Olivares 4. Zarate 5. Brown 6. Rose 7. Ortiz 8. Harada 9. Carruthers 10. Canizalez (although tenth could go to alot of people)
I think Herman beat better fighters than Canizales. Also, he was the undisputed champion, twice no less. I say he is above Orlando. And certianly in the mix for that tenth spot. But fair enough.
McGrain my memory has gone blank there are alot more deserving guys than Canizalez there I just completly forgot everyones name. Before i posted it I had Terry McGovern written down as 'that old guy who was good' I just cant think right now.
Dont have a clue right now. My minds gone mince. He would be up there 10-15 kinda area with Herman etc...
I don't know about above Herman, strange as I consider myself somewhat of a Bantamweight aficionado. I'ma research some more :good One thing i'd like to ask while we're on the subject of Bantams; I know there's no footage of Escobar, but what about Panama Al Brown?
He's on the cusp, not sure if he'd break the top 10, though. A lot of competition at the weight: Jimmy Barry George Dixon Terry McGovern Johnny Coulon Kid Williams Memphis Pal Moore Bud Taylor Panama Al Brown Sixto Escobar Manuel Ortiz Jimmy Carruthers Raul Macias Jose Becerra Eder Jofre Fighting Harada Lionel Rose Ruben Olivares Rafael Herrera Chucho Castillo Carlos Zarate Lupe Pintor Miguel Lora Orlando Canizales Khaokor Galaxy Veeraphol Sahaprom Jeff Chandler
