Would Pinklon Thomas have whipped Tua ?

Thomas had the ideal style to beat Tua: Good chin, rangy and agile enough to move away from the hard hitting samoan.

 

He'd be a great chance of outpointing Tua at his best. Great chin and jab and good power.

 

Would look like Tua-Rahman 1 except it lasts 12 rounds. No need to say who would win

 

Interesting fight but Thomas was never that active and did not have the same reach advantage Lewis did. Interesting fight.

 

Thomas has the jab to keep tua at bay for 12 rounds.
But tua had scary late power...Thomas would have to be real careful in round 12

I'm hearing you HG but i think the Thomas we saw against Witherspoon and Weaver would be a good chance of decisioning Tua. I'm not completely sold on Tua.

 

Tua got outboxed a lot...not just by fighters with a long reach but David Izons, Oleg Maskaevs, Fres Oquendos all outboxed tua for long periods of the fight. Hasim Rahman couldn’t miss tua with the jab.


I’m sold on tuas power, he was an all time puncher. But he had very leaky defense and Thomas was a super boxer puncher at his best

 

Agree on all fronts.

 

Both were so damn inconsistent that it's hard to actually pretend their could ever be a prime head to head bout. That said, Tua rose to the occasion slightly more often against better opposition. I am taking him.

 

I'm with Seamus here, Tua wins this in a close one.

 

Out boxed yes ,but he usually caught up with them and then it was lights out.

 

Can't blame you .. he was never the same after the Ike fight .. never had the same fire ..
