Would Povetkin really stand a chance vs Fury?

It's hilarious. over 7 years ago.

Hughie Fury had Povetkin blowing out of his butt & gave him a tough fight with 0 offence. Tyson would batter him.

Fury has come on a lot of course since then but Battleship Povetkin is not Sefer Seferi, or even the Cunningham that dropped him.

Fury's defense would never pass the missile that shot down Whyte. Povetkin has few chances.

I love Povetkin but is everyone ignoring the fact that his punch resistance has completely left him? His legs and balance have pretty much gone too and at 41 next month he is a shadow of his former self. An offensive ‘Kronk’ Fury could really do a number on him. Povetkin is a class act and in his prime, a tough night for anybody but this version is going to struggle with most of the top 10 now.

Right. But you never mentioned Fury avoiding most of the top 30. Which he has. He has also been caught taking steroids. Neither of these facts spell #1 heavyweight to m . They spell fraud and con man like Wilder was. A real champion takes on all challengers and stays on top of the hill. A con man fights bums and has excuses when a real challenge is in front of hi . Like Wilder did for all those years. Fury is picking right up where Wilder left off.

Correction...he was accused of taking steroids by UKAD. But when challenged legally, they declined to present the evidence in court, because, admittedly, they could not explain why they did not pursue it 16 months previous, and Fury walked away with no further penalty but the "time served" for a ban that he served for mental health reasons.

If you choose to answer, please do not **** up the quote box, as you looked like a fool the last couple of times out.

Thats not true. Fury actually signed off and took the ban for which was conveniently made retroactive for the two years hed already been inactive.

But officially Fury was banned for two years for taking PEDs. He also turned down a test by sending a tester away which is as abad an infraction.

Povetkin can't survive the first 6 rounds against Fury.

Povetkin is close to being a shot fighter. His punch resistance is way down from where it used to be, his stamina is down as well. The fact that he put Whyte to sleep, is just a reminder to what a technically sound fighter he has always been, and to his ability to adjust and have a game plan. He deserves the Fury match but his chances of winning are slim. Still Fury has struggled with some guys like Wallin, and you just never know.

I think Fury making a mistake that Povetkin punishes will be Povetkins best chance.

As you said, that Wallin fight could have been stopped because of that cut, and it largely happened because Fury was not taking it seriously.

The 39 y/o Povetkin who fought AJ was way past his best for goodness sake but that was still a much better version than the one we saw against Whyte the other night.

Even the version who fought Hughie was significantly better than version who fought Whyte

E-Hearn even said before the fight that he believes the AJ and Hunter fights have taken something out of Povetkin and that he feels Povetkin won't be able to take punishment like he did in his prime or even as well as he did just a few years ago

Povetkin vs Hunter was one of the best HW fights in years and you don't typically see too many 40 y/0 in wars like that in the twilight of their careers

Povetkin took a lot of punishment in that fight from a fighter who stopped Kiladze in 5, the same amount of rounds it took Joe Joyce, the savage punching Ajagba who Kiladze dropped hard, and one round quicker than Kownacki

Hunter also stopped the unbeaten savage punching Bakole in 10 despite the later being way bigger than him and having over 40lbs on him

He stopped Ustinov in 9 despite the later having over 66lbs on him

And Hunter dropped the tough unbeaten Kuzmin hard too who had 37lbs on him and blew right through the 25lbs heavier and never before previously stopped Fabio Maldonado in just 2 rounds, the same Maldonado who in his previous 2 fights lasted the distance against Oscar Rivas, Oleksandr Teslenko and after fighting Hunter lasted the full route against Carlos Takam too. Takam praised Maldonado's toughness after the fight

So Hunter hits hard enough to hurt, drop or stop all these HWs who are much heavier than him and I believe that fight took a lot out of the similar sized Povetkin whose reaction times and hand speed looked noticeably slower against Whyte and his balance looked poor too and his punch resistance has clearly diminished too. Povetkin is obviously capable of taking out anyone with that power of his but he would need his speed to land on Fury and it ain't there anymore
