hughes was a always a one dimensional fighter with no stand up and gsp has evolved since then while BJ has not. Face it, BJ never had the stand up game to beat the current Mac. He only uses his hands and he never had the skills,power or speed to make up for that vs Mac who uses all his weapons and has a reach advantage. Btw, he broke BJ's ribs.

No BJ was a 2nd generation fighter but these guys now are a step above.

 

Penn has been beaten BADLY by GSP, Edgar twice, Diaz, Macdonald and was lucky to escape the third round with Fitch. Bring up Hughes all that you want, that doesn't make Penn look any less dominated. You can keep bringing up Hughes too, because he makes my point as well: He kicked all kinds of ass before guys with more skills and ability showed up and started dominating him, just like they did Penn. It's not size, it's not him being suddenly "shot", it's him not having the skills to hang with top mma fighters today. Get off his jock and move the **** on.
