Or do you think Jones Jr whitewashes him? I think the speed would just be too much. Probably 118-110 type win like the Toney and Hopkins fights.
Roy Jones Jr would school Andre Ward. And since both are Americans, there would likely be fair officiating, so Ward wouldn't be permitted to use his illegal tactics like hitting while holding, head butts and low blows.
It depends if Roy is juiced up or not. Ward has good defense so Jones isn't going to just pot shot him with hooks and right hands also Ward has a pretty decent chin apart from Kovalev the only other time Ward was down in his career was early on against Boone. If Ward is allowed to get away with his dirty tactics it would be a very rough night for Roy. Either way it is not an easy fight or routine win for either guy.
It would be a repeat of RJJ vs Hopkins in 1993. RJJ would be too fast and would soundly outpoint Ward in the region of 9-3.
Now what if we put Ward on the same PEDs? Suddenly he has power and more speed etc. That's a Ward win. I think Ward could win this fight anyway. Ward is much bigger naturally, taller, and look how normal he looked at 175. Kovalev looked like the one coming up. Ward was a huge drainer obviously. He'd never make MW. Ward would grapple and be weird and awkward and cheat and butt and do all that SOG stuff. Look at Froch who appeared like he spent all night getting attacked by a squid and struggled to get his shots off. I'm not convinced the flashy flash works so well on Ward, who is of course a spoiler. What works is technical boxing and power like Kovalev showed and what GGG would have done also which is why Ward was wary of that one. As for who is the better Christian, that one is obvious. You don't get the initials SOG by being a sinner.
Ward would punch him in the nuts about six times, stick a thumb in his eye, and drop him with a single leg takedown for a 10-8 round in the first. Then he'd dry hump him for another 11 rounds to win a SD.
I can't see it personally. Jones has both a physical and stylistic advantage (extremely fast in and out movement) here as he did against Toney. Wards feet would look leaden by comparison. Roy was also an underrated ring general, so even if he got outsmarted it wouldn't last for long imo. Wards best bet would be to try and box low and awkward like Griffin did.
Ward hangs tough and has a few moments, but he's outgunned by a more athletic and, frankly, far superior fighter. Not a knock on Ward, but I'd expect it to be 117-111/118-110ish.
Whilst Ward wasn't a big puncher and only legitimately stopped one world class opponent in his entire career, a walking dead version of Chad Dawson who even a 70lb schoolgirl would've ironed out in that moribund weight drained state. The question you have to ask yourself is does Roy have a better chin than that weight drained to death shell of Chad and the answer is a resounding no. Case in point: Both Roy and Chad went down from innocuous little love taps in those fight which clearly weren't remotely concussive. There was no audible thud and no visual signs there was any weight, force or snap behind the shots. The difference is that weight drained to death shell of Chad got up and prime 100% healthy roided to high heaven Roy not only didn't but he was fast asleep long before his head hit the canvas. The most likely outcome is Ward via HL reel one billy goat butt KO. No way Roy's chin is withstanding a flush Ward billy goat butt.
To be fair, B-Hop vs Roy II was a very dirty affair albeit I can't remember if B-Hop actually billy goat butted Roy in that one. Surely he must've at least tried to. But I was actually very amused by Roy, who other than his roid use and sucker punching downed dwarf Montell twice with two almighty roid bombs in a fit of roid rage, was not a dirty fighter at all, because he gave B-Hop a taste of his own medicine and would, completely out of character, just foul him right back whenever he got fouled lol
