Would Ray Leonard have easily beaten all Roy Jones`s 160 opponents?

How would a 160 Ray compare to Roy in bouts vs Roy`s 160 opponents and how would Roy have fared fighting vs any fighter that Ray fought that could have met Roy at 160 like Duran and Hearns?

I think Duran and Hearns probably beat Roy if there were Duran and Hearns like the ones who fought Ray. I think Duran would have trouble with Floyd's style more than Roys.. Roy was more instinctive and fought with speed and countered, but he didn't have the defensiveness of Floyd, who would use the ring. I think a middleweight Hearns is hell for Roy. I think he outjabs him and lands the right. Roy was great with whom he had.

The problem with this question is, Roy was naturally bigger than Ray, so it's not really a fair comparison

Yes I just feel Ray would done well vs the version of B-Hop that Roy fought and I don`t think B-Hop fought better on that night than Hagler did v Ray if you see what I mean.

I don't think he would beat them 'easily'.

He would lose to Toney (though that's 168) but I don't know if he'd lose to Hopkins as well, as Hopkins was pretty green in comparison, although the difficulty would be size + age for Leonard.

Not too sure, it's not a fair comparison given Leonard was a natural Welterweight. The real question is could Jones beat Leonard's 160 opponents?

Marcos Geraldo, old Marvin Hagler and Hector Camacho? Leonard didn't fight very often at Middleweight at all (in fact I think Ray was only 154 when he met Geraldo as he was giving up a bit of weight there)

I'd pick 160lbs RJJ to destroy the former and the latter and to outspeed Hagler for a much clearer win than Leonard managed. Prime Hagler beats Jones I'd imagine.

You do realize that Toney was at 168?

Ray was obviously past his best at MW.

Roy's best opponents at MW were:

    Castro
    Tate
    Hopkins

Ray could have beaten them, but I think Hopkins would have been difficult for him.

I'd take Roy over any of Ray's 160 opponents.

Duran may rank higher than Roy, but there's no way he'd have beaten him in a H2H fight at 160.

Hearns would have been very tough, and Roy would have had to have fought very aggressively.

Marvin would obviously also have been very tough too. But you've got to remember that guys like Marvin used to often weigh in well under 160 back in the days of same day weigh-ins, whereas Roy would be huge at the weight.

Roy's size, strength, speed and his unorthodox style would have been too much for all of them.

Roy wasn't green at MW, he just never had the names on his resume due his father holding him back.

Not many people realise that he fought Thomas Tate at MW the same year as he fought Toney when he was 25 in 1994.

I'd comfortably take those versions of Roy over anybody at 160.

Like Duran, Ray ranks higher than Roy on the ATG scale, but his peak was at the lower weights.

How would Duran have beaten Roy?

It's one of the worst stylistic match ups you could find for him.

:SimpHomer::rota2:I feel that Roy would miss more punches than Bugner would against Benitez as Herol Graham move on the centre line and Hearns was awful in that fight.
It was all inches & fractions, or do fans feel i am being too simplistic or harsh.

Someone said in another thread on Quora that Jack Bodell would beat Mustafa Hamsho but i feel Trinidad had bigger biceps and moved back in a straight line.

    Do fans agree.?
