Would Ray Robinson`s right hook to the body be ideal to land against the philly shell?

    I just watched this brilliant vid about how to utilize the philly shell or the peek a boo defenses and it was mentioned that one of the only punches that can get through the Philly shel was to throw the right hook to the body, this was the shot that crippled LaMotta eventually in his final bout v Ray, Robi landed the punch time and time again, could it work against Floyd`s philly shell?

    And to answer the question yes it could but if it were that easy he wouldn't have retired undefeated

    Every world level fighter has their own stance on defence
    Floyd's was just amazing

    The guy in the video fundamentally doesn't understand what he is talking about.

    If that style of defense is used properly, he will generally roll inside a wide right hand aimed at the body, come back with a right uppercut counter. At the very least the right hook to the body will be landing behind the back.

    A lot of Ray`s hooks to the body were bordering on illegal.

    Rays right hook to the body was a kidney shot that may be called out nowadays.

    Philly shell is vulnerable to this, but it depends on the fighter, not the style. Each style has its advantages and disadvantages.
