The Ike fight was an abnormality though. In large part because Ike was more of a slugger than a boxer/puncher. Tua still barely did anything for the first 5 rounds.

Izon, Oleg, Rahman...etc all managed to force Tua into his shell for the majority of their bouts with pretty basic boxing and power punches.

Amazing how ineffective Tua could be against fighters that could throw simple power combos off the jab.

Better perhaps, but I doubt that he had Lyle's power.

In what way did Lyle have chin issues?

Was knocked out four times in his career and idk how many knock downs. Maybe we can ignore the Cooney KO he was 39 but he was still knocked out several times before that.

I find it strange people call 90's Foreman overrated because his best win is Moorer.

But Tua is some h2h monster when his best win is an even worse version of Moorer.

Tua is overrated but I'm not sure Moorer is his best win. He has about 4/5 KO wins around that level.

No way is Moorer his best way, not by a long way. I still say his best win is Ruiz. No one was expecting that I don't think.

The title of this thread,,,would Lyle put him into his shell? I'd say yes, Ron hit very hard and was the better boxer of the two. After Tua gets hit he'd be wary the rest of the fight . Lyle UD,, 96-94

Moorer is arguably better than Ruiz. Certainly better than the rookie version Tua beat who wasn't a champion and who hadn't perfected his jab and grab style. Tua's win over Ruiz is roughly equal to Cleveland William's win over a rookie Ernie Terrel.

The Rahman "KO" was a cheap shot after the bell when Tua was way behind on the score cards. He couldn't beat Rahman fair and square in the rematch and had to settle for a draw.

Most of the rest of his KO's aren't anything noteworthy. Moorer is arguably his best win.

He was knocked out by Lynn Ball when he was ultra shot. Before that, only Ali, and Foreman knocked him out. And the Ali stoppage was arguably premature.

Shavers hit him with some brutal shots, that would've ended lesser men yet Lyle came back to KO him.

    Bump.

I used to say Lyle on the basis that he had an ok jab, and could fight when he had to, but first off, he would indeed have to fight at times since he has flat feet, he can’t just stay away, and when they do fight, Tua, firstly, outweighs him by like 20lbs, and also, I can’t help but remember how Shavers got Lyle against the ropes and did actually dominate him for large stretches, and Tua is a lot stronger than Shavers, it’s not like Lyle could come on strong and let Tua gas out, because Tua, at his best, had solid stamina, Lyle never did.

Tua and Lyle won’t have a hard time finding each other and TUA is the guy you can’t out brawl without monster stamina and a helluva chin… Lyle has neither, Tua smashes him around like a caveman, honestly the little butterball would get Foreman and some versions of Tyson if they just mindlessly bombarded him, more likely for Foreman… they’d start to gas fast trying to get him out of there and he’d come on and bash them up… if Foreman rubs his two brain cells together he could just thump him with his jab but he wouldn’t…. Tua vs Patterson, Machen, Folley all L’s they’d outbox him bad, Bonavena probably has fair game with Tua lol.

Prime Ali/Tua would be like FOTC, but with Frazier evading punches without throwing back, looking puzzled.
