Would Roy Jones had conquered the cruiserweight division?

Based on my saying his prime was from 1994-2001? Like I said, if thats what makes you feel better. You inserted something into my statement that had nothing to do with what I said. A fighters prime is not determined by how long he keeps winning. If you don't know this, that sounds like a personal issue. Perhaps you are biased, or you're just looking for a fight.

 

So basically you're making an assumption. At least I know where you're coming from.

 

BTW Paul, I do notice how you rush to criticize anyone and everyone you can. This is a boxing forum. If someone says something false about any fighter and I know differently, I will post in that fighters defense.

If someone says Jones ducked Michael Nunn, my response will be, "Sure looks like it". If someone says Jones could have tried harder to make a fight with DM, my response will be "Yup, and vice versa, shame it didn't happen". It depends on the subject. You would be better off not guessing at people's views you haven't seen yet.

 

Yes, he would have. Mormeck and Bell are terrible, then around that time you had basically the same level crop around. It'd have looked good also winning a linear title in the 5th division, instead of dropping down to 175 and facing milk dud drained, which was the end.

To say the least, he looked better at 195 than he dropping back down to 175.

 

Draining wasn't the main problem for Roy. The heart of his amazing talent was always reflexes and thats the first thing to go when you age. Although draining didn't help I don't think it was the main issue.

 

Im not sure about rjj at cruiser weight i AM A 100% RJJ fan imo one of the best ever I think him winning the hw title was a huge thing but i also think it was his down fall for sure I would have liked him to stay at smw full stop I dont see the point of any boxer going up in weight for the sake of it if he needed to go to lh fair enough but glory hunting has not done him any favours 1st he wont get credit for that win from the masses for a long time to come which is a shame imo 2nd the extra weight is just to much take off with out having an effect. if rjj stayed at smw and cleaned house for 2 years longer than he did his legacy would be to stong even for the haters

 

Every boxer who has a flawed defence, and wins based on his reflex gets beaten in the end by infierior men, who have better defences built in.

With age, the 1/2 of an eye blink advantage in reflex is gone, and they get hit for the first time. Reciently...well for me...Ali, Lenard, Jones.
