Of course he could have done it, but the odds are he would have got KO'd. And, knowing what we now know about his chin, it would have been the end of his career.

no we're talking about a journeyman who had his five minutes of fame against wlad, never rose to those heights again and faded off into the distance.

people are judging sanders based on that fight alone.

Please. What all you guys are from Fla.? Went to school with RJJ? Your sisters married to him?

Ok. For the record: 1 punch from Corrie sanders ends it. 1. that means Roy has to go 12 rounds w/o getting hit. Ever.

I love me some RJJ, but this is a bad matchup. Sanders has much, much better handspeed than Ruiz and would have caught RJJ. But who gives a ****? It wasn't RJJ's weight class. There is no shame that that Sanders would have owned him.

hard to say, but my guess is, if sanders catches jones, jones is gone, and wakes up in about a year or two, the same thing would have happened lennox.

sanders is a true athlete, very explosive!!!!! just happened to be in apartheid south africa.

It's hard to say but Roy Jones could have done almost anything so probably he could but with a good gameplan and being in great shape and staying switched on in the fight. They ain't got nothing on p4p

this woulda been a pick em fight for my money, just knowing that one big Saunders right would have someones eyeballs flying out to the third row!!?
For my money Jones outboxes saunders for the first few rounds then come the fifth Saunders catches him with one of his punches an its game over....
    Bring on the rematch!!!!?

Sanders would only need to land one clean punch to knock RJJ out. Even at 175 in his P4P days his worst opponents could land a punch during a round before he knocked them out or outclassed.

RJJ was a great fighter, but there are few fighters at HW that he would have any shot at beating. Too much size and too much power.

Jones beat Ruiz because John spent the entire fight flat footed and moving his head around in a goofy fashion but throwing no punches. To beat Roy you need pressure and you have to let your hands go. Sanders would go after Jones and Roy would not be able to pot shot the whole fight. Sanders would have ko'd Roy easily. Too tall, too much power for Jones to handle. That's why the fight was never made!
