Roy (prime Roy) is probably only going to get hit with the occasional single shot, yeah he'd be able to take those. Roy (again prime) was never hurt by a shot that wasn't an extremely fast counter. Lou Del Valle didn't hurt but dropped him with a flash left land from an odd angle. Tarver when he actually stopped him............again it was an extremely fast odd angle left hand. And these men were both LHW's that walked around near 200 (Tarver higher than 200). There is simply nothing from Roy at MW-SMW that suggest that he's gonna melt with one shot. There simply isn't.

Also, we have to contend with the fact that Golovkin could be made to be gunshy, and let's also remember Roy was known for dropping and stopping guys who had never been dropped or stopped prior and then would never be stopped or dropped again after him. I realize the question isn't can Golovkin take Roy's shots but it's relevant because people that get gunshy often turn the power down because they don't wanna get countered big.

Leaving aside picking a winner for a moment, a few things.

nobody is knocking out a prime Golovkin at 160.

Jones did not have a glass chin, he was so good that he hardly ever got hit clean in his prime, but his chin is at least average or better. Making him out to be some Amir Khan figure is rubbish.

Golovkin would be Jones’ hardest test at 160, he beat Toney and Hopkins fairly comfortably, but prime Golovkin was better than both at middleweight.

This would be a very competitive fight, both are top 10 middles for me, probably closer to top 5. Im going to pick Jones tentatively.
Prime GGG was so good at cutting off the ring, you need a supreme athlete to avoid being cut off and trapped, I think Jones can pull it off.
