Would Shane Mosley lose face by fighting Paul Williams and losing !!!!!

Not sure, Mayorga has always been a tuff call.
The presser's would be gold tho..

Shane is at the point in his career were only winning big fights will have any effect on how he is viewed. Thier came a point in a fighters career were loses dont hurt. Most boxing fans and boxing history buffs will excuse loses that came at the tail end of fighters careers.

Losing to Williams would not hurt Shane at all, for several reasons, One Williams is the most dangerous fighter there is out there for Shane to fight, its the biggest risk he can take with the least amount of reward money wise.

Plus Shane has said that he isnt interested in fightine Williams, but he would. He just felt like he has already done that, and he is at the point were he is looking for the biggest paydays he can get ONLY. No big payday NO fight.

 

Nah......Shane is not PRIME. Loosing now to a guy as dangerous, big and well rounded like PW would be like him loosing to Winky Wright when he did. But no one wants to loose and Paul is not a good match for Shane.

 

Paul Williams is no punisher but he may punish Shane Mosley's mistakes for life or what is the same, right to the end of his career. What happens is that PW's style is all wrong for Shane like Calzaghe's was for BHop - they put out a massive volume of punches and that either leaves you with the chance to knock em out or to seriously hurt them... Either way, that's not how you r supposed to beat another boxer - you gat to dictate the pace, you gat to show versatility, you gat to throw more or land every single punch you throw... Carlos Quintana designed a perfect strategy to beat him but PW also learned from that. Shane should leave Williams aside.

Do you seriously think Mayorga can take the pace that Williams will set...Mayorga is not going to bully Williams around and I can assure you that...Just because he beat Forrest doesnt mean he is going to replicate that performance and do the same to Williams...Styles makes fights and Williams style is all wrong for Mayorga.

Shane taking on Paul Williams is a 'Heads I Win, Tails You Lose' situation. Like one of the guys in this thread already said. If Shane beats Williams, no one is going to want to fight him. If Shane loses to Williams, no one is going to want to fight him. As a boxing fan, I would love to see this fight. But it really wouldn't be a good chess move for Shane.

 

As much as I like SSM, I can't see anybody in the div. beating Williams at the present time. Only my opinion though.

Gotta agree with that statement. I don't think he would lose face, because I would give him props just for taking the fight. Who else at 147 would even step in the ring with Williams. I see him losing though cause he couldn't handle Vernon Forrest and I feel Paul Williams is better than him.

 

Mosley-Williams needs to be made.
