Prime for Prime, Norton weathers the early storm and Knocks Shavers brutally out. If Norton comes out swinging though, he ends it in round 1!

Unless Norton came out blasting first he hit as hard as Quarry....but with Norton his style made it hard to avoid aggressive fighters he could not move back or lateral very well he drug his right leg behind like a prop

Norton wins by virtue of being a better fighter than shavers who won big fights more often. Too much of "styles makes fights" in this thread; Norton was more likely to land than shavers and both had the power to hurt each other.

As far as Norton was concerned, Shaver's reputation preceded him. I.e., Shavers gets him every time.

Basically yes, Norton could not fight backing up,he had that back foot in a bucket style.

I think Norton would beat Mercado. Mercado was not the type to go all out. He had great power but he was not as aggressive as Shavers. Mercado couldn't stop the weak chinned Spinks. He'd beat Sims, too. If anyone was comparing Sims to Liston, they were misguided. Before facing Shavers, Jeff had been stopped by trial horse Larry Alexander and decisoned by a way past his prime Jimmy Young. Lyle is another matter. Lyle would likely stop Norton.
