He's a tall man at 6'3 but I don't think his body would suit moving up to heavyweight. At cruiser he is still able to make use of his long reach which helps but vs the main heavy's this would likely be negated. Adamek's done ok so far but you'd have to say if he fought either Klitschko or Haye it's likely the bigger man would be too much. With a super 6 at Cruiserweight being mentioned I'd like cunningham to stay at the weight where he'd likely be very succesful. What do you guys think?
If his chin and power improve with added weight (which has happened before)... then he may be able to beat people like Arreola? Ok fine... i am stretching a bit
I think he could outbox a lot of guys at HW, but his chin would fail him against a lot of that competition. He'd be a contender, not a champion. I for one don't think he needs more power to win at HW. He's not a knockout artist. He could outpoint 2/3rds of the top heavyweights just by hitting and not getting hit. Not every top heavyweight needs to have top power. He just needs enough power to keep guys from swarming him.
Hard to say. Steve Cunningham is a great talent. 6'3 about 195 at most he could add the weight not problem but it would be interesting to see if he worked on his power. If he did improve with he chin and power with the added weight as v2k987 pointed out then I think he could have success as a heavyweight.
Nice job in Putting Haye in the same line like they're similiar. Hilarious. Imo Adamek would beat haye rather easily, cuz he does everything better just has less power. With the klitchkos i cant see him winning tho. As for the subject, u have answered ur own question. Why would he move up if the situation in cruiserweight gets interesting. Super six will likely happen. Also he usually weighs few pounds under the limit, he's just genetically skinny guy, so he would struggle to put up more weight even if he wanted to.
Honestly, Steve's been at CW for a long time. Makes you wonder why he hasn't moved up already if half the guys in the sport are trying to eat themselves into oblivion just to put on a few extra pounds for the bigger HW pay-checks.
Not sure about this but i assume he will wait to see if the super 6 comes off. Especially as sauerland will be instrumental in setting it up
We've done this many times. Cunningham is a compartively small cruiserweight (weighed in seven pounds inside the weight limit in his last fight) with a dodgy chin and a lack of power. Those are not the combination of ingredients that spell a successful transition to heavyweight.
IMO Cunningham has the tools to compete at the HW division but I think with his lack of power will do him more bad than good...His chin is OK and I think will be another problem for him...If he can some how improve his power he would do better but I just dont see him being nothing more than a contender in the division.
IMO he does. Trained at my old gym and he is the biggest mother****er there, bigger than the HW's. I have no idea whatsoever how he makes weight, and makes it so easily for CW.
That's what I feel though I understand what people are saying in that his power would have to improve. Khan's been similar though his chin obviously hasn't been dented at light welter yet
