Hello people i have been reading these forums since i was 14 and its still my favorite place for boxing news/talk......

Anyways im 18 years old. I started boxing at about 13 and found myself becoming pretty good at it and the way my body respoded to it was very impressive,at least my trainers thought. But as fate would have it at about 15 i fell into a bad crowd and started selling drugs....basically i was submerged in a complete life of crime. 11 months ago i was involved in a "drug dispute" as the newspapers would put it and i was arrested on 3 counts of attempted murder and arson. I was shot at and then the next day allegedly i recruited some of my "thugs" and we blew up the persons house that "i felt was resposible for this incident"
Anyways i was held on 1 million dollars bail and i basically thought i was ****ed in the ass str8 up. But by god would have it my co-defendent struck a deal with the da(hes testifying against me and another as well as everyone and anyone else involved) and at the grand jury idictment hearing they only indicted me on the arson charge and possession of ifernal device. My bail was then reduced to 1,000 dollars and i was let out 6 months later on a gps monitering system. Since i had a reasonable amount of cash saved up as did my family we were able to retain a very prominent lawyer. As of now things are looking pretty promising and i have been hearing that the district attorney is going to pursue charges on watever person(s) my co-defended is implicating. So i may be getting a suspended sentance with some probation. Problem is this case will not be finished for about 5 more months.

Now besides all that i want to leave that lifestyle behind me and pursue a boxing career but by the time i am able to actually live normally without having to make a telephone call may not be untill im a little over 19.

Is this to late to start back up?
Also:Were would some major amatuer boxing tournaments in the con/mass area be held

    B.T.W. I am 5'11 215lbs 9% bodyfat(calculated in jail)

I think your weight and measurements are the least of your concerns at this point. (not trying to be rude, sorry)
If you want to box, join a gym.

Your measurements mean nothing and you can still achieve success at the age of 19. The potential is unlimited at that age. The friend who got me into boxing had all the same problem as you when he was younger, he still has some today to be honest. You choose your own destiny. You can go back to the way you were or you can straighten up. He made the wrong choices, you don't have to do the same thing. I would spend the next 6 months (or until the mess is over) doing as much conditioning work as you can. When you get out, join the nearest gym, and find a quality trainer.

Hmmm, interesting... You obviously dont have a criminal mind. Criminals, or "thugs" dont post to online forums asking for advice on what they should do...

Anyways, Im now 19, and a week after my 18th birthday I was charged with 15 felonies and 7 misdemenors. They consisted of charges such as; possession of stolen firearms, distribution of firearms, selling firearms to minors, and altering serial numbers... One of the minors I had sold an AR-15 to got caught with it at school and didnt hesitate to squeal, so I was quickly arrested. I got off though and only served a few weeks in jail because me and my family know people and I returned everything and confessed (this was after that Virginia college shooting so I guess it was a big deal...) It took me 12 months to finish court and am still on probation. I go to college full time, make A's and B's, and work part time at a gym. Im going to college for sports nutrition and have applied to about 7 nursing homes/retirement communities and I'am their number 1 candidate untill they get my background check back. So is life gonna be hard for you from here on out? **** yea... You ****ed up, it happens. My dad did it when he was young and now hes a retired senior chief in the Navy and the CFO for the VA. Grow a pair and move on. The damage has been done so dont sit, dwell and feel sorry for yourself, do something.

As for being a boxer, didn't Bernard Hopkins learn to box in prison? So I would have to say yea... success is still possible. You gotta grow up quick though with those marks against you.

And a 14 inch forearm... **** bro, start running or something and lay off the weights...

Well the good thing is that you already have a year or so atleast of boxing training it seems so when you start back up you already have atleast a decent understanding of the fundementals and techniques so you wont just be starting from nothing at 18. Your still a very young person far from your phyiscal peak lots of great fighters started boxing in their late teens/early 20s or older. Just work hard thats your only chance you gotta work hard and forget about your previous life leave that **** in the past and start yourself a new life dedicated to boxing and succeeding.

My initials. I've been using them online since about 1996 so switching would be rather weird for me. It sucks, I know.

You can easily have a successful amauter career at your age and if you work hard you could probably have a successful pro career.
