Were you smoking crack at the same time as you were watching the tapes?? At lightweight, Roberto Duran looked superb against high-calibre lightweights like Ken Buchanan and Esteban deJesus. Whereas Mosley looked superb against mediocrities like Philip Holiday, well past-prime smaller men like John John Molina and outright cans like John Brown. One guy proved to be one of the greatest lw's of all-time, the other beat up low-calibre opposition then moved out of the weight class. Trust me, the only thing Mosley has in this fight is power (though Duran definitely carries the power to hurt Shane as well), and Duran was not for getting stopped at 135. The lw Duran had comparable speed, was a much better inside-fighter, better head movement, better at cutting the ring off, a superior ring general, and a better combination puncher. He'd get close to Mosley and land many more punches than he'd take in return, and pound out a wide, comfortable points decision.
This would look similar to Mayweather Mosley except Duran wouldn't get hurt, would land more punches and would be much more aggressive.
Sugar Shane would be stepping into a realm he has never been into before at 135. Facing a man that beat DeJesus,Buchanan,Marcel Viruet etc... (most of these convincingly) Duran was a killer at 135 and when fully focused he could nullify speed and power. Mosley does not have the ring generalship to frustrate Duran enough, therefore Duran could even push for a late TKO, but certainly a UD
Watch Duran at 135. The only word that can describe him is animal! He was just a beast at the weight. Murderous power with his straight right and left hook, a great uppercut, pretty quick, and very very good defensively! I don't think anyone at 135 gets the better of him, that includes Benny Leonard and Sugar Shane.
:think Holiday was Mosley's toughest opponent until De La Hoya. It was a competitive fight and Mosley didn't look superb in it. Neither was Holiday a mediocrity as you say...
Noone crushes duran at lightweight. There is not a lightweight in history that duran couldn't hang with. *please mag, resist the urge and stay away from this thread*
The only lightweight whom I see giving Duran the hardest fight of all is Henry Armstrong. Now, Mosley is not on Duran's level. Duran is a lock for top 15 ATG and in most cases makes it into the top ten! Mosley is top 100 if you are feeling generous. Duran beats him. Possibly by KO.
