Im fairly sure Tommy wins this one but would he score the ko or would PW reach the final bell? The two had very similar physical attributes/advantages at the weight. Also PW is a tough guy, maybe even tougher than we thought given that he fought and beat Margo-cheato before the Mexican was exposed. Remember Tommy didn't ko every welter he met even though he was certainly capable of. However, i think if Hearns landed that straight right over the top......

We'd have to see how good Williams chin is, has it been tested enough?

Apart from SRL, every fight Hearns weighed in under the welter limit for he won by stoppage.

Do you think he was "certainly capable" of stopping Leonard?

I just think Leonard was better...anyone that wasnt met a brutal finish..much like Paul would.

Probably. Hearns at 147 was a beast. The only thing one can judge Williams @ 147 is going 1-1 vs. Quintana and beating Margarito. Go ahead and throw in Mitchell if you'd like...

Yes tommy was capable and he hurt leonard, but no he didnt ko him and yes leonard was a better pure boxer. And i guarantee leonard thought hearns was capable. At least he got to knock him down twice in the rematch

I am a big fan of Thomas Hearns but his whole career compared to Ray's does not look like Ray was really better. Hearns won his first title in more convincing fashion and he beat Hill the same year Leonard looked old with Norris. Tommy also put more into boxing and fought almost 70 times, which is about 30 times more than Leonard.

I think Tommy beats P Wil comfortably at this stage.

Williams hasn't had enough opportunity to show what he can do yet.

Had Hearns ever faced a guy who threw 100 punches per round?

Well Ray beat a much better fighter to win his...though Tommy's still goes down in my book as one of the most impressive title winning performances ever.

At the end of the day Leonard beat Hearns in their primes and at their best weight...Yes I do think think that Hearns was at his best at welter.

My point really is I think Ray is better overall and the more well rounded fighter..I wasnt really trying to say anything about their careers.

Tommy would not give him any such luxury....once he felt Tommy's power, great chin or no great chin you would see a significant cut in his punch output..thats the way I see it.

Did Quintana beat many volume punchers before he beat Williams? You don't have to have done it to be able to do it. Otherwise there's no first...ever.
