Would the 1980's version of Mike Tyson clean up the current heavyweight division?

I don't see any slickness on Mike's CV. Zero. Nada. None at all. We know that the antidote to power is slickness and movement. The puncher like the painter needs the subject to be still in order to paint their masterpiece or to land those decisive shots.

When Mike stepped up to CW Level he no longer held the speed advantage he did against all those big American Level plodders he feasted on. Remind me what happened there again? He didn't just fail both attempts the frustration drove him to a nervous breakdown just like it did with AJ vs Usyk and Bumzsquad vs Fury when they stepped up to CW Level and/or Slickness Level

Usyk and The Gypsy King do not fear power like all Mike's victims clearly did. They don't fear it one bit. But we know for sure Mike feared slickness because of the complete dearth of it on his CV and we also know AJ and Bumzsquad fear it now too after their humblings at the hands of the slick GOATS Usyk and Fury. Fighters with no slickness on their CVs are no different to ones with no power on theirs.

Oh *insert name of coward fighter* has a great chin

    How so?

They've never been down or knocked out

Yeah but they've never fought a puncher or if they have barely any at all

    Same principal applies regarding slickness

Who were the slick boxers in say 1987, 1988 when Tyson was at his peak that you would have favored over him Serge?

A little optimistic, but it is possible you are mostly right.
It is really tough to know, since what people do not talk about enough is that Tyson is very unusual-especially for a modern figher. Short but muscular, peek a boo style, + so fast.

But while Tyson was listed at 5'11.5, he was not below 5'10".
What I have heard 5'10.5" at his best is plausible.
But given his crouching stance, thick built, & fighting taller guys, he looked even shorter.

To be fair, Mike fought in a pretty weak era and a very weak slick era. And we mustn't fall into the trap of selling him short just because he feared slickness because he was a fantastic fighter and FOS ie. Fear of Slickness is hardly an uncommon condition. No ordinary level aka American Level slickster is beating him. It would take an elite level practitioner of British Gypsy Slickness or Cossack slickness to perform a slicking on him.

But Ruiz is also much taller than Tyson and he looked like a midget compared to AJ.
As we saw throughout his career, Tyson did struggle more against the bigger, quality opposition.

Fury has a foot and 60 lbs on em, let alone the speed, and stamina for days.

Mike gets shredded from the outside before he caves him in 10-11.

Or Mike breaks him to the body, brings his head down, and thrashes him out by 7. Idk which lol

He destroyed Larry Holmes, who continued to beat guys through slickness for another 14 years after mike destroyed him. He was 38 at the time, yet still beat Ray Mercer afterwards. The same Mercer who lost a controversial split decision to Lennox Lewis afterwards

I think Joyce's style and chin could cause him problems.

I don't really consider Holmes that slick and American slickness certainly doesn't compare to British Slickness, especially Gypsy British Slickness, or Cossack Slickness

That is one of the best descriptions I have heard about Mike. He simply did not like to be hit back.

Lewis & Holyfield had his number,Usyk would be like Holyfield & Fury with how he moves, & also just to big.

Took some good shots from Ruddock but would always look human at heavyweight because he was only 5`10.
