Would the 37year old Jack Johnson do better against Marciano than Walcott?

Even when talking about a prime Johnson we have to remember what Hart, a weak facsimile of Marciano, was able to accomplish against a fit and rapidly advancing young Johnson.

This is a point to consider ,but I would like to have seen that fight with my own eyes before using it as a template as to a likely winner between JJ and Rocky. On the thread's subject, I think Walcott was better at 37 than Jack was.Johnson was not in shape, was a fugitive, beset by problems on all sides.Walcott was in excellent condition for a man of 37. The fight in Havana was fought at a slower pace but the humidity was terrible.I'll be there for a week in April so I will be able to see for myself what the conditions were like. The average temperature in April is 77 Fahrenheit 25 centigrade.

Cheers! It may well be just a fleeting visit because not being very computer literate I don't understand what I was banned for! How do you "bypass the word button"?

I think a prime, or even close to prime Johnson would handle Marciano.
But the 37 year old version would get caught up with. Maybe he survives the KO, but he gets beat up.

I agree, he may have some success tying up Rocky and getting home with his uppercut but the relentless pressure would get to him imo.

I guess it's just me, but I feel a prime Johnson has a pretty good shot to beat Marciano... this version.. probably not.

I have no problem with anyone who rates Johnson above Marciano either on record or h2h,

but for me "heavy favorite" is a bit over the top. I think Marciano beat men such as Walcott and Charles who were closer in skill and ability to Johnson than Johnson beat someone who was that close to Marciano in fighting assets.

Johnson beat more top men, but Jeff and Fitz were old and washed up, Langford and Ketchel small, McVea and Jeannette green. For me, the closest to Marciano were probably Burns and Hart. As has been mentioned, Johnson didn't actually defeat Hart, with the ringside observers on balance slightly favoring Johnson getting the decision, but a respectable minority going with Hart. As for Burns, I don't see him as being at Marciano's level.

*If someone brings it up, yes Walcott, Moore, and Louis were old like Fitz and Jeff, but they were still fighting well.

Bottom line--I see a prime Johnson and Marciano as a toss-up. I favor Marciano over the 37 year old Johnson of Havana.

Could it be something like, when you make it so a cuss word is known, instead of letting the site filter it out. Like when people say F@ck You or something like that? I have no clue though

That's a fight Johnson like won, and Johnson isn't going to be under this weird criteria of "aggression" wins out over everything. So unless that is the case, Johnson was disfiguring Hart's face, while taking little damage himself. So while I see the point you're making, I think it's a little off considering the circumstances.

Johnson couldn't stop Hart's attack and Hart shut him down over the second half of the fight. I feel that Marciano would do more than stunt his offense with his own.

A Mod has kindly suggested that this is the case, ie putting in asterisks instead of letting the automatic censor do its job.
I have no problem either way and would have thought being told not to do so would have been sufficient ,but apparently not for someone.I suppose power is only any good if you get to use it?

I would think anyone would not be expected to know this automatically.
And with 76K + posts, it seems especially unfair to not nicely tell you about the rules & be banned.
