Would the heavyweight division be better off without the Klitschko brothers?

Has it gotten to the point where they are so dominant in a poor division that it is only making the division less interesting as most of the title fights are no longer competitive as they are simply too good for the opposition they face, and at least if they retired we would at least get a few more competitive title fights, even if the champions would then be less skillful?
Not trying to hate here so don't say i am.

Would open it up for sure, probably be guys winning one fight then losing it right away, bit like the 80s guys till tyson came along.

Well it will definately open it up, but I still think its better with at least Wlad klitschko, because he is the guy to beat, and whoever beats him will be the new star of the heavyweight divison. It would make it much more exciting if somebody does that, I hope somebody comes and knocks his ass out. Thats why I keep watching his fights, not because of him but because I want to see him lose. LOl.

My biggest problem with the bros, is just that, that there bros, and of course will never fight, that kind of sucks, as both hold belts, but vits aint got long left so we shall see what occurs when he goes, hayes, pov, boystov guys like that should have some good battles hopefully

    I don't understand the question.

I think the heavyweight division would be better if one of them left. I don't care which one, but having two top guys who won't fight each other is lame. I don't expect brothers to fight, but I don't expect to give full credit to a guys who duck the only other worthy challenger either. And, yes it's a duck. It's the best ever reason for a duck, but still a duck.

Imagine if Ali never fought Fraizer, and they both just agreed that each was equally the best around. That's lame!

    Nope.

It would have been better with one rather than two though.

While I understand why people are upset with the current state of things, I do believe that the Klitschko brothers have brought more attention to the sport in Europe than has been seen in some time. With that said, I think the HW division could always benefit from being more competitive.

Do you think the competitiveness that would be restored to the heavyweight division if the Klitschkos retired would be better for the division and outweigh the loss of its two best fighters?

No. Definitely not. Whether people like them or not, they are the best of the bunch at the moment. Hands down.

It would be better if they acted as completely independent entities and fought each other every so often, but this is a completely different thing to them not being around.

Maybe. My theory on this is not novel, just rarely said in polite company: I think that people just don't like them because they are white-skinned.

When the average person hears the words "heavyweight boxing champion", they see a big black man in their mind's eye. A big black man who talks with an american accent, probably of urban origin. When the same person hears the words "NASCAR winner" they envisage a white guy with a southern twang to his voice. If the real image conflicts with the stereotype, it causes confusion, and people don't like to be confused. So, a white-skinned heavyweight champion is a bit of a shock - not as much as if a Chinese guy won the Olympic 100 metres gold medal, but a mind**** nonetheless.

And if the stereotype shares characteristics (skin tone/gender/nation) with the observer, the negative reaction is probably amplified when reality comes into in conflict with their stereotypes. Fairly straightforward stuff, really.

Have to say the poll is suprising so far considering the amount of hate they get on this forum.
