Would the Klitchko's still "RUN" the HW division if they fought from 1983-93?

Prime Tyson would do them both

    Larry Holmes UD

Bowe beats Wlad, close fight with Vitali.. could go either way

People forget how good Spinks was, he would take them both close.. so a win either way is on the cards

    don't call me nuts.
holmes was way past his prime from 1983. so he was slow. vitali and wlad are bigger, way faster, hit way harder. it's even difficult to think that he would have a chance. in his prime holmes was great, but from 1983 no way. mercer is plain **** with a great chin. there is no way in hell he stands a chance against the kbros. riddick bowe is the most overrated boxer who ever put on gloves. his prime was what? two years? and after that a c level fighter who couldn't beat a slow, robotic golota??!! holyfield would give both a great fight, but i think that wlads jab is to good for holyfield, so wlad would fight on distance and win a clear ud. but aginst vitali holyfield would have a great chance, because vitali is allways an injury waiting, and his jab is not that good, so holyfield could come inside and beat vitalis body very bad. against lewis it's different, i can't see wlad beating lewis, but i can see vitali beating him. tyson would destroy wlad, but against vitali he would lose

He clearly states in the opening post that he's only comparing the Klitschko's to the American heavyweights of that era.

really? Wlad has not lost since 2004 and Vitali has not lost since 2003. That is pretty damn good. I would call that dominating.

The whole list would give them a good fight, and they would lose some due to stylistic mismatches (both to different fighters), but win a good deal of fights, up to 80% or more. People always come up with their dream boy in his best effort dream match, and put him in with "ze Klitschkos" in their worst fight on their worst day.

Of course, todays Vitali loses 50% or more of those fights plain due to him fighting like in a geriatric walker from his knees and body being held together from implanted duck tape. But Vitali from the Hide fight, and Wlad from his best performance with todays defense, are hard to overcome obstacles. "Robotic" my ass, that is not a dance contest but a prize fight about who smacks the other guy harder and more frequent. Chagaev and Ibragimov couldn't even touch Wlad.

Thing is, in that era, they both would have had better sparring partners, and more good advices regarding stylistic approach. Their careers would have been shorter, but their athletic superiority, and Vitalis grit, would have made them a 60-40 favorite in most of the fights. Sure, they would have lost some, but their individual quality would have made 80% of the fighters on the list who weren't defense wizards eat their powerpunches like popcorn. We know how that ends.

I would favour both Klitschkos over all of these guys.
Holmes, Tyson, and Holyfield would be great fights and none of them walk through Vitali or Wlad despite their rumoured supernatural abilities.
The Klitschkos would've been top 5 in that era, they have the talent to compete with any of the great HW's of the past.

yeah, but if they fought in that era, they would not be privvy to the ever-evolving advances of bio-engineering, nutrition, and fitness.

Either way, if you give those other guys the advanced training, or deprived the Klits of theirs, they would get beat the **** up regularly.

Wlads glass chin would be exposed more than Tiger Wood's sex life. Wlad is one hell of a boxer, but whenever he gets into a hard/tough fight, he ends up knocked down several times, panics, or knocked out. A prime Mercer, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, McCall, Bruno, young Lewis would all take him to war. Vitali is much better H2H, and I would honestly give him a damn good chance of beating anyone on that list. Though I feel Tyson, Bowe, and Lewis would all be competitive fights that could go either way.

The Klitschko brothers would be competitive in any era. Prime Tyson puts young Klitschko flat out and probably decisions Vitali.

Tyson, and Holmes are the only people I could see beating both.
Bowe beats Wlad but gets beaten by Vitali.

Vitali would beat the Tyson who fought Smith, Vitali is 10x the boxer Smith ever was.

I wouldn't put prime Vitali a favourite over prime Tyson and prime Lennox, same way as Lennox wouldn't have had it as easy with a prime Tyson as he had it with a washed up one. But noone else on that list was a combination of being a powerhouse with a good tactics, or the definition of a stinker fighting like Byrd.

However, of course, the other fights would have been fights, not like todays dominations against old, out of shape or inept fighters. Just when you look at what prime Vitali did to Herbie Hide, whom he spanked in not even two rounds easily, while "Magic" Bowe had to fight many more rounds, you see that this generalization of "every fighter of the past in my collection is better ! Every !" is wishful thinking.

Wlad would get knocked out by most of those guys, maybe beat a few by pawing etc.

Vitali would beat a few more.
