So, we know the Klitschko s came along at a perfect time for themselves, the 1990 s biggest names were gone or winding down.
But what if they came up around the time of Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield etc.

Question is, can they get established as champs for any length of time in that period?
    Indeed, become champs?

They certainly would not have been dominant like they were in the 2000s but they would have been very competitive and they would have become champs. Well, Wlad would have become a champ and I believe Vitali had a reasonable chance to grab a belt as well.

Cheers Fogger, good answer, as per.
It was a good, tough era for the heavyweight s back at the start of the 90 s, they d have tougher fights.
Can you imagine Vitali v a young Lennox circ 1995?!!
Wlad up against Riddick around 93?!

Even Bruno is dangerous then. He gave Lennox a hard fight.
And perhaps yes we had no chin Seldon, but Lennox, Bowe, Holyfield even Golota?

They'd have a harder time cementing dominance, but at least one of them would probably grab the lineal title at some point, just like in reality.

There were periods of vulnerability for that title in the 90s. Holyfield with a heart condition, Moorer, Foreman, and Briggs all held it. If you're talking belt holders, same kind of situation.

Plus, either could grab the title outright. The Klitschkos have the ability to take out Bowe, Lewis, and Holyfield. Though they wouldn't necessarily be favored over all of these guys, there are two Klitschkos, and they only need to win one of their title shots to get the belt.

    Wlad really struggles here.

Bowe, Lewis and Tyson will all smash him in the 90s.

But I favour him over Douglas, Moorer, Holyfield, Foreman and Briggs.

Vitali, we know he loses to Lewis. I suspect he also loses Bowe and Holyfield.

All of them are an abstract image of boxing created mostly by fools. All of the eras are overrated and mostly full of the type of cheap entertainment o found at a monster truck rally.

The huggy bear tactics don't work for Wlad against Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson. Vitali on the other hand would be competitive but hard to say how well he would compete.

That era was certainly stronger than the Wlad era and Wlad would not reign supreme.

Vitali is brave and hard enough for any era, bu can't tell the same for Wlad as he has the heart of a chicken and the chin of glass, I guess he would've been often sanctioned for excessive clinching on which he based his success, of course, politely assisted by referees and judges for never being sanctioned.
