Looking at the accomplishments of both fighters, if one was to beat the other, I'd venture to say it would be close. Thoughts?

Only for Manny Pacquiao, Floyd is still dragging up the rear.

I could see that considering Pac's work at lower weights, but still would be a very meaningful win for M(g)ayweather

  4. Yes. The winner of this match (or hopefully trilogy) will be a top 10 ATG probably universally.

Hell, a competitive trilogy could put them both up there.

A win over Mayweather means Top 10 ATGness.

    Why?

Cause Mayweather is already Top 10 ATGness.

A win over Pacquaio for Mayweather will just be another bout in a history of good bouts, lets face it, people are already making excuses for Pac's loss.

The assessment is off, considering that Pac's resume, number of conquered divisions, and fashion of victories currently exceeds that of M(g)ayweather

Unquestionably, but Manny Pacquiao's resume is more accomplished. He's defeated Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Chatchai Sasakul, and Ledwaba. I'd have been more reluctant to list Morales in there with the others before because I thought he was close to being completely done, but I don't think Mosley of the other night was any better than the Morales of 2006.

A quick shout out to those who currently have Floyd higher in the ATG rankings. Take up golf.

Sure, we can put the two Morales victories on par with the Mosley win..Sounds good

I agree that a win over floyd would mean more to manny. Even manny is saying he's too small so floyd wouldnt get full credit probably. Pac was closer to ATG tops IMO until May unretired and pushed Mosley back like that.

Top 15 I would think. Add Williams to the winners resume and you have a claim for top 10.

It simply comes down to, like it or not, Mayweather is seen as the supreme fighter of this generation, beating him makes you the best.

Beating Pacquaio doesn't make you the best.

I don't see little Pac fighting a 6'2, 82' reach Williams. Pac COULD win that fight though, :thumbsup
