While I understand that there are some guys who are pure athletes, and guys that I respect like GSP and Silva, most guys tend to have tell tale signs of a steriod user. And it's not like it's difficult to beat the system. I know people myself that are into that type of ****, and they take stanzanol which you can get out of your system in 1-3 days. So what do you think would happen if olympic style drug testing were introduced?
That if there are as many users as you are implying, they would stop using, or they would get caught. The sport would continue. Or are you suggesting steroids are as essential to fighters water and air? And despite the myth, it's not that easy to pass a drug test, this is why highly paid people with the best of everything in the world fail.
They have the power to switch to it now. I could give a **** what people are doing so long as one guy doesn't have an advantage over another, steroids included. If both are allowed to use, then fine, but this isn't acceptable to the public right now because people are clueless as to what steroids and hormones actually are. Need to remember that something like a cortizone shot is actually a steroid which is almost certainly more harmful to a person than if they were taking a proper doses and cycles of anabolic steroids. Birth control pills are versions of steroids as well. Overall, steroids make for many complications, and as GSP has stated, it ends up being that you need a team of doctors who oversee your hormone use who wind up becoming a part of your training. It would be simpler to just implement olympic style standards, but we have to remember that even they are not 100% going to catch people. People are going to use them and get away with them anyhow. Marion Jones beat the tests, but was implicated via association with Balco.. So, it just ends up being people find more ingenious ways to use them.
Not easy to tell if someone is on roids by just looking at them, unless you are looking at someone like Jay Cutler, Kai Greene, or a freaky strong person like a 320+ lb version of Marius Pudz. Some people have great genetics and are going to look great with very hard training.
He's calling you an idiot because it's not always obvious people are on roids. For ufc athletes, it's not something you can tell by just looking at them.. Someone on roids might weigh 300+ lbs and under 10% bodyfat
Let's be real though. If these guys were real athletes and naturally had those kinds of genetics to create those kinds of builds, would they be fighting for a few thousand dollars, or be in the NFL making millions? I think it's highly suspicious.
Lesnar was more than a good enough althete to play in the NFL, he just wasn't good enough at actually playing. In raw numbers though, he was elite. Also that assumption implies that NFL/any other sport doesn't have a drug problem equal or larger than MMA's.
the two best MMA fighters in the world are Fedor and GSP and I'd bet big money that they are both clean.
