This is a good question..Im a huge Fab 4 fan and a Benitez fan..I already think he doesnt get the respect he deserves because of the timing, But yes its very possible we could have had a fab 5...I just dont know who I would have B fight after Hearns.

I honestly think he would have done better against Hagler than he did against Hamsho. Hamsho totally ruined his momentum when he moved up to middleweight. But had he fought Hagler, then they would have all fought each other. I don't think he could have beaten Hagler, but stranger things have happened. He did have the style to beat Hagler, but not the size.

I also think it's possible Benitez could have beaten Hagler. Benitez would have fought his usual cautious style against the stronger fighter and Hagler, as was his wont sometimes, may have been lulled into a careful chess match and tried to outbox the boxer. In that scenario, Benitez may have made Hagler look foolish.

If Benitez had gone on to fight Hagler you mean? He was past it anyway. I'd be more interested to see how Moore would've fared had Duran not kicked the **** out of him.

I believe somehow Benitez would have fared better against Hagler than he did against Hamsho. He was just experiencing first time jitters which is common for fighters moving up. Just ask Duran

I believe Benitez wouldve stayed on the ropes and lured Hagler into his deadly trap. Now, Hagler is in Wilfred's domain

He'd make Hagler look like a dumb ape punching himself out. Once Hagler was rendered completely impotent, similar to George Foreman vs Ali, wonderful Wilfred would go to work on a completely exhausted Hagler who is suddenly behind on points. A desperate hagler, quickly falling behind, tries the only thing left available to him, butting, and is quickly deducted a point.

Winner by split decision and NEW champeen

    Hagler was a lucky champ

stranger things have happened, that's why I like Benitez' chances

not sure i understand the question of the OP but regarding benitez/hagler i'd be curious. i think there was a time he could have troubled hagler and as Mag pointed out, if he did well enough it would have raised his stock a bit
