People have made lara into their new "canelo's boogie-man" after trout got spanked. He's the slick black guy nobody wants to fight supposedly...and they'll say canelo is ducking him. The fact is austin trout would have ZERO trouble with this guy.

 

Canelo is slower on his feet than Angulo and has much worse stamina.

I think too many people are not giving either guy credit. Firstly Lara gets bashed because he was dropped twice by a guy many people felt he should not have struggled with, but if you actually watched that fight, Angulo fought like Lara disrespected his mama, the devil would have had a hard time stopping him. In Lara's case, he withstood one helluva onslaught by Angulo, and I don't care who slow he is.

His fight reminded me a lot of the Peterson vs. Kahn fight. But to answer your question, I believe both Canelo and Trout would have struggled with that version of Angulo. Trout wouldn't have had the power to phase Angulo, and would have been lucky to survive 12 rounds. Canelo on the other hand a more power than Trout, but would have struggled early against him, while eventually stopping him much like Lara.

Well he beat a similar style in Trout but for me, Lara is a very good boxer and one poor showing does not change that. He has regularly fought at world class level and never looked out of his depth.
