Pretending that mayweather is not a legend and comparing him with calzaghe is laughable. You should respect yourself more, tbh.
The opinion of a guy who opens a thread like this one is not worth much, tbh. As I said, you should respect youlself more. Youngterror has already told you. Becoming ATG while making a shitton of money and receiving next to no punishment is a no-brainer. Anyway, enjoy your shitty thread, I dont know what am I doing here actually. See you in another thread.
Mayweather had the perfect career. He didn’t manoeuvre his way carefully to the extent that most people like to point out. He fought alot of live world champions, essentially taking risks in order to be great. At the end of it, he was a winner and is an ATG. People just dislike him and amplify any little thing he does to gain an advantage, other fighters have done the same before him and after him. That’s just a part of boxing. The other guy wants the pay day so he has to make some sacrifices, we saw it with Tank vs Ryan. He had the perfect career with a fantastic resume, beat everybody by using skill and not getting touched up like the other ATG’s.
X2 You pointed out the major factor, the difference in view between fighters & fans. Of course, we want lots of action, excitement & controlled violence. But as a fighter, I imagine that I'd have the burning desire to be the best & make good money, maybe get a bit 'rich', manage my $$$ well. At the same time, it's a huge consideration. The money difference is so unbalanced, with fighters at the top level getting way overpaid. If the ATGs of yesteryear had the same relative $$$ in front of them, I'm sure there would have been a ton of great fights that never happened.
Hearns, minus the brain damage preferably. To be willing to constantly fight the best available competition demands nothing but respect.
Ali and Robson were boxing gods sitting at the top of the ATG list, but sadly both fighters brains were impacted greatly by their ring exploits. We all wanted to be boxing Gods, but there is a barring incident or accident a much longer life to live after retirement, so if not being viewed as a God, because i did not go that extra mile to get my brains rattled, but still kept my little grey cells intact i will take that.
In my own life I have generally preferred trying interesting things and sometimes failing rather than simply maximizing returns. I also am who I am and say what is on my mind rather than playing a role to get attention, which is a lot more Hearns than Mayweather. Of course, what Mayweather did was plenty interesting compared to a typical life, however I think if I were somehow to find myself an elite boxer I would end up taking more of the Hearns route than the Mayweather one.
Calzaghe would do a hell of a better job against a fighter like Maidana thats for sure. And if I had to pick who was the most juiced of the two it would defo be Mayweather, and the most protected would be Mayweather also in his las vegas hideout. If Mayweather was Welsh and fought in the UK he would never have had his manufactured Hollywood career.
Floyd made more money than Hearns and Tommy became bankrupt anyway, having to sell all his world title belts.
